Darkglass Microtubes 900 Class D Amp

I wouldn't be so sure of this, especially with all the other newer class D amps available for $700-800... At least I hope your wrong, but we'll both find our soon enough!!;)

None of them with the coveted preamp section this has. If the effects forum rep spills into the general population, we'll see it up toward the Demeters of the world.

Finally some more info on this amp.

"Here at Darkglass world headquarters, research has been proceeding to develop a line of amplification products that establishes new standards for quality, technological leadership, and operating excellence. With customer success as our primary focus, work has been proceeding on the crudely conceived idea of an instrument that would not only provide inverse reactive current, for use in unilateral phase detractors, but would also be capable of automatically synchronizing cardinal grammeters. Such an instrument is comprised of Darkglass gears and bearings, Reliance Electric Transformers, Allen-Bradley controls, and all monitored by the Darkglass "Microtubes".

Now, basically the only new principle involved is that instead of power being generated by the relative motion of conductors and fluxes, it’s produced by the modial interaction of magneto-reluctance and capacitive diractance. The original machine had a base plate of prefabulated amulite, surmounted by a malleable logarithmic casing in such a way that the two spurving bearings were in a direct line with the panametric fan.

The lineup consisted simply of six hydrocoptic marzelvanes, so fitted to the ambifacient lunar waneshaft that sidefumbling was effectively prevented. The main winding was of the normal lotus o-deltoid type placed in panendermic semiboloid slots of the stator, every seventh conductor being connected by a non-reversible tremie pipe to the differential girdlespring on the ‘up’ end of the grammeters. Moreover, whenever fluorescence score motion is required, it may also be employed in conjunction with a drawn reciprocation dingle arm to reduce sinusoidal depleneration.

Darkglass has now reached a high level of development, and it’s being successfully used in the operation of making loud noises. It’s available soon; wherever Darkglass products are sold."

Well forget it then. The last amp I had with only six hydrocoptic marzelvanes was so underpowered that it was unusable. Besides have you ever priced out a normal lotus o-deltoid type unit once it blew? It'll cost half the price of a new unit in bench labor alone.

I hate that you gotta get up to 88mph for it to work properly.

They have been doing pretty good selling a pedal for way more than the average preamp pedal... so there is that.

I guess, average = common =/= good. I think their stuff is really good. I think there is a lot of middle of crap that is priced according. I see no reason to pay more for this amp, than for one of their pre amps, and a separate micro that is more powerful than what they offer.

It's the leap of faith that the pedal people lust will bleed over to the amp consumer world. It could work. It could fail. I'm not their target buyer, but I wish them luck.

I hope it sells well for an entirely selfish reason. I'm hoping some pedal people will drop their pedals on the classifieds to buy this amp ;) In this case, I'd rather take a pedal I can use with any amp, over the all-in-one.
