Dat bassface...

My bass face. I just look like a dork.

A dork, yep, my standard too. But like Bunk, I love our band and appreciate my bandmates. It's all about having fun.
Dork? I have no idea how you see that as dorky. All I see is dudes having a blast. I WISH I looked like that when I'm in the groove. I produce a distorted, somewhat relaxed face like I'm high, but at worst it's a demonic grimace of which I am 100% aware of and yet I don't care to do anything about it - because the rhythm is a million times more important. More important than almost anything in life, almost. Feels like that in the moment.

My 1989 bass face. Hey shut up! It was 1989, and all that that implies.

Let me preface this by saying that I'm an absolutely untalented musician, as well as bass player.

I often notice that when I play and concentrate on the rhythm, especially if there are 1/16ths making my life hard, I have a bassface. I notice it because I feel the tension of my facial muscles, and imagine that I must look pretty damn ugly. But I can't drop it, I just keep that bassface until I finish rehearsing/playing.

I also noticed that I have various "versions" of bassface, some more relaxed/enlightened, others more demonic and grotesque. And the latter seems to be the case more often as the years and months go by.

Should I be worried?
Without passion and a little pain nothing really significant may be generated .. playing this instrument is a physically demanding task, don’t worry too much and show off your bass-face.

I have bass-face. It ruins so many pictures. But on more than one occasion people have told me, and thinking back it’s always been women, that I look like I am enjoying myself a lot.

You just have to own it. Worrying about it is crazy. Maybe wear a mask or a fried chicken bucket if it’s really getting to you. But that won’t decrease interest or chatter about it.

Does my bass face look cool? Not necessarily. Is it an authentic expression of how the music moves me? Absolutely. Recording myself honestly made me stress a lot less. My best playing is when my head is swaying and I'm making a face. When I'm plain-faced and "cool" my playing is TRASH, because I'm overthinking. So I say worry less and groove more.

No. When I play I'm as expressionless as a potted plant. At least more than your fingers look alive.. LOL!!

Yeah, somebody told me once that my face, when I play the bass, it looks like some sortuva uh eh like a big uh jellyfish or something like that, it just keeps moving you can never identify what the face is, a real ugly sometimes and real weird looks like a foot or something or just like it be flashing at me like it's rubber, rubber or something.
