DC/VA/MD Get Together?

If I do make it over there it'll probably be early on. I'll most likely bring the new Brubaker 6, the Spalted Xtreme 5 with the removable preamp module and maybe the fretless 5. I'll also have the ThunderFunk/Nahas rig with me if anyone wants to check it out. Anything else anyone wants to see, let me know... :D

Can you bring that sexy crotch walnut fretless (was it an Elrick?) you showed me when I bought the cabs? Or was that one a fretted :eyebrow:

Okay guys - I know I was all set up to bring a lot of things (like especially the nametags) - but I just can't make it. We were at the emergency room all night with our dog, who is still there, albeit finally in stable condition, and we're going back to be with him. We found out the hard way that he's diabetic, among other things. :(

Will miss meeting you all, And I'm sorry if you don't end up with nametags or anything.

I regret to announce that we managed to hit the doggy brown note. But Phil didn't seem too upset about that.





Anyway: I agree, the GTG *was* an outstanding success. Thanks again to Phil, and Nick for organization, and everyone else for bringing their cool selves and cool gear. I had a total blast. And... y'all are some talented bass players, I felt humbled.

Definitely a success. Thanks to everyone who came out for bringing all the stuff and making the party work. Too many sodas and snacks as I feared, but not too much waste. Thanks everyone for helping keep Newman in the house. :) I'll have to host something like this again, maybe next time we can go to the side of the basement with sofas. :) When my wife and I bought the house we got the basement made up for just this type of activity!

Of all the fantastic basses that were there, the Reverend was the one that really made an impression on me.

I'll try to post some pics some time this week.

It was funny watching Brad come in with so many ultra-high-end basses, then pay so much attention to a $120 SX fretless Jazz. :) :bassist:

Hey, I like bass... and a nice bass is a nice bass;)

It was very cool putting faces to names and meeting everyone. My son had a good time too. Glad I could make it, sorry we couldn't stay longer. Thanks to Phil and everyone for organizing the GTG.

Awesome time folks.

Mad props to Fuzzbass for hooking me up with the pickup. I guess I'll have to get you a 77 P Bass to go with your 77 Ashtray. :D

Amazing basses there, but DHCs Rumblefish is the one that really made an impression on my ears and hands.
Brad brought some amazing basses, but the the thing I wound up coveting were his chops.
The pose of the day had to be DHC holding up my BC Mockingbird.
Nobody wound up being ugly or funnier looking than imagined. But, Edwdc does not look like Christopher Walken (and neither does his son).
Fuzz's rig combined with the Rumblefish was just Suh-weeeeet. Plus his MTD 535 made me sound a lot better than reality normally does.
There were alot of bassists there looking like little kids in the candy shop without Mom around.
Lots a cool people, and enough food there so that the Tuba player wasn't freaking out. But Nick didn't bring his Tuba. I was hoping for his selection of Victor Wooten solos transcribed for Tuba.

I had a great time with some great bassists, let's do this again!

So sad to have missed it. But, on a lighter note, the dog came home from the hospital at 10PM last night with a cautious clean bill of health, with a followup test scheduled for Wednesday. Even the diabetes was a gun-jumping diagnosis, apparently the glucose spike was an isolated result caused by the physical stress of having gotten sick, and he normalized on his own (and insulin actually sent him too far down)!
