DC/VA/MD Get Together?

I reckon I'll go buy some "Hello My Name Is" stickers because I'm not around here enough to know who everyone really is.

Bringing:

1. Brad Houser Fish 5
2. Bongo HH 5
3. Bongo HS 4
4. Custom Shop NOS 64 Jazz

(If anyone else is bringing a similar Bongo, I'll gladly leave mine at home. My Accord is surprisingly roomy, but hey, it's an Accord.)

Well, my new Bongo is an HH 5 in Egyptian Smoke that nobody's seen yet (it's not arrived just yet) - perhaps we could each bring one. Glad to see you're coming, Jack, even though I coulda sworn you're from far away.

I got a feeling I'm gonna feel real inferior if I show up... :hiding:

You will be just fine. It's not a competition its just a chance for us all to do as Nick said put faces with the names of people you have been communicating with. Besides once you hear me play you will feel much better. ;)

don't mind me, I've just been beating up on myself lately.. it usually causes me to buckle down and get better but I feel i've reached a brick wall in how much I can teach myself...

No, you don't see how it is. If you're going to come, cool! I've chatted with you online and I'd like to put a face and a person to it. I, and everyone else, was just under the impression that you weren't coming. If you are, you need to actually say you are :)

I'm just kidding man, sorry I don't think I will make it. you guys have fun though! Thanks for the invite.

I started out self-taught, and I'm happy I did so. Eventually I reached that brick wall, so I took theory lessons. That was the ticket! I encourage you to do the same. I learned from a guitarist... point being, you don't need bass-specific lessons.

Anyway: I'm going to feel inferior too ("more gear than talent" definitely applies to me), but as Ed said, this is a social event. :)

Heh, I'm "more gear than talent" myself, I'm merely a mediocre player in the grand scheme of things, but my basses allow me to tap the full potential of extreme mediocrity =0)

Update: due to GAS having gotten the better of me the past month, I'm in a more dire money sitch than I thought. So:

FS at the G2G: My whole stack. GK700RBII head, dbx 160A comp, and two Aguilar GS112s. $1000 (that's 300 each for the head and cabs, and 100 for the compressor, but I dont wanna separate it). Includes the rack case for the head and comp.

I'm going to keep faffing around with my two tiny guitar amps until I get my Briefcase, and I know I'll need a "stage rig" again in the future, but not in the *very near* future. All will be well, but I need to get the ol' plastic paid off.

Also in case anyone's interested: Brand new Dean V guitar. '79 series, flamed top, braziliaburst finish, body and neck binding. Ordered it before I found the guitar I *really* wanted, and this one just arrived. $400, cuz everybody needs a git-stick around for *something*.
