DC/VA/MD Get Together?

Wow Nick thanks for the help. I'll clean house and get everything set up (which will be some work believe you me). I'll also supply the glasses, plates, and silverware. No plasticware and paper plates will be used in my house. I've got plenty of hooch in the bar, and I assume we won't have anyone getting loaded, maybe just having a drink or two. (and you underage people please do not drink or you'll put me in big trouble)

All this stuff is great:
veggie tray and dip
chips and dip/salsa
cheese and cracker type tray
potato/macaroni salad
deli platter/meat?
bread for deli sammiches?
condiments (mayo, mustard, ketchup, tomato, lettuce, onion)?
sweets for after?

Though I'd personally be happy with no deli meat tray or samiches, and just chips/salsa, veggie tray, cheese and crackers.

SODA and BEER are important things for someone to bring! :bassist:

And of course gear.

Thats fine with me as well, with all of the other food, I do not think we really need the sammiches. I just put that as an alternative to burgers/dogs, since you said that you didn't want to spend all the time grilling (I don't blame you!!!). But yes, I agree, the rest of the stuff will be plenty of food, me thinks.

Sorry guys, I have to pass. I have to fulfill my community service requirement, as ordered by my school, not the judge.

Besides, the minute I say "a bunch of random guys from that website I go to", my parents are going to leap up and say, "here! Take the keys! Don't be back any earlier than midnight!"

Matter of fact, IF people want those, I'll hit the office depot and get them, and try to get there as close to 1 as possible so everybody gets one. If you'd rather not because it's lame or something, then nevermind.

Oh, and I'm bringing Guinness.

Name tags = good idea. I have Sharpies already.

Let's wait for more people to RSVP then decide on what everybody's going to bring. Everyone bringing their own beer/soda is a great idea IMO though I wouldn't mind if you left the leftover beer with me. :)

Count me in. I'm there. I'll bring some drinks, and try to bring some munchables as well. I'll be more than happy to help with any set up and/or clean up. I still don't know what gear to bring, so want to take a look at my profile and let me know if there is anything you're dying to check out. I'll bring a drum machine for some impromptu groovin. I'll also be bringing a wimpy six string, if people are wanting to jam. If there is a desire I could rustle up a small PA.

Once again thanks Phil for opening up your home to us TBers. I tried checking out a couple of other shelters after getting a quote from Bull Run, but either electricity and/or music isn't available/allowed.

I'll bring my own bevvies. I'm also happy to bring a food item... requests?

As for gear: my Read/Stewart rack plus a Bergantino HT210 won't take up much room so I'll also bring a few basses. I figure the Fender RB5 and MTD 535 are definites. Maybe I'll even bring both RB5's, because one is strung with rounds and the other with TI flats. I'll probably have room for 1 or 2 more... if one of y'all is potentially interested in buying my greenstone Modulus Q5, I'll definitely bring that!! :)

Hey so far we've got about 10 people, that's enough for a real good time. I've been to two meets like this, one of which I hosted in my old townhouse. Neither of those had any drummer or guitarrist, it was enough just to get together and "talk bass" play with strange gear, and hang out. But hey this is a new meet - my finished basement is pretty large, we could accomodate a drummer with a small set - remember there will be a lot of bass amps in the room. :-)

What do you guys think? Invite a drummer? Guitarrist? (that may be going too far - I can see us grooving with a drummer, but actual band play)

We don't want to be too too loud - if a drummer's coming he needs to be able to play quiet, have brushes, those quiet sticks, etc.

As far as what to bring gearwise, bring whatever you want. My rig will be there of course, and I'll have four basses.

If you've got anything for sale, BRING IT! If you think you may be interested in something, bringa checkbook! :bassist:

I can jam a little on drums, but don't have the room in my car to bring a drumset. I need to save the space for gear that fellow TBers can check out. I will bring my Zoom RT123 drum machine in case people want to groove out.

I'm good either way. I'd love to jam, but I don't want to push the envelope on Phil's hospitality by getting his neighbors or Northern Virginia's finest pissed at him. Checking out basses and talking bass is good enough for me. I'll bring a minidisc recorder for posterity and so I can steal some licks off of my fellow TBers. :D

Been there, done that... a few times. On exactly none of those occasions was I given a solo. Truth to tell I didn't really care, but it's rather telling that the skinny-stringers were all courteous to each other, but the fat-stringers weren't even asked. :hmm:
