  2. ZXAkuNf.
All the bracing and blocks are glued to the back.

    Vs9tVWT.
Finished the access cover transition to the body and mounted it.

Next step, sanding flat the back, roughing up the front side and gluing on the top.

Decided to give the final straight edge of the access cover a binding as well.

    IVold0m.
Glued a reinforcement rib on the inside of the top, also drilled the small holes in the top (and back) for the toothpicks to align the top when gluing.

  4. Before:
    Vs9tVWT.

    After:
    U8nZ4vZ.
The binding all the way along the access cover is just what finishes it off.

  6. At last after 1.5 weeks of preparing and gluing, today I've been happily busy with shaping the outside.

    Ut3ZuPa.
Sanded the outer body contour, routed the radius on the edge of the body and and routed out the soundholes.

    The top:
    73v0Zps.

    The back:
    aRF8rgo.

    Beautiful work!!!

  9. EglgJUR.
Decided on the position where the knobs and switches should come and drilled the holes for these.
Centered the holes for the single string bridge parts.

    Mz6OGPJ.
Rough cut the wood for the neck.
Wenge fingerboard, maple/wenge/maple/wenge/maple neck, merbau - with body matching walnut top - headstock.

The top has a very nice figure. Will you give it a see through finish?

  12. of course it will be see through, it would be a pity to hide all that beautiful wood underneath a solid color, or even a sunburst.
The complete bass will be finished in Danish oil.

Ah yes, I meant a burst or something :p Wasn't clear enough :p

Since the top is a nice light piece of wood, my preference would be dragon burst.

  14. The top will get a lot darker once it is oiled, just wait and see ;).

  15. 1xjcSWH.
    UdKvEVd.
Glued on the headstock, including a (unplanned) layer of wenge due to a small thinking error wich meant the neck would be to short.

  16. 2ACRI7v.
    And glued the headstock veneer.
Tomorrow or the day after tomorrow it's the routers turn, leveling the surface of the neck and routing out the grooves for the truss rods.

Leveled the top surface of the neck.

    yoC8lxI.
And routed the grooves for the trussrods.

The end of the grooves at the headstock side will be finished further on the milling machine I have available to me at work.
