So glad I found this thread. I just picked up a 4 string Dean Edge 09 in Classic Black at an estate sale for $60. Looks like it was just hung on a wall and never played. Dusty as he!!, but in good condition.
I know it's the entry-level bass, but I was surprised by how cheap some of it was. The tuning machines were so lose that they almost fell out of the headstock, and the volume and tone control knobs rub against the body. Got them tightened up, and much better now.
Pulled the strings off to really clean all the dust out of everything, and I noticed a gap between the bottom of the neck and the top of the body. Must have been 1/4"-3/8" gap there. Again, I was kinda surprised. Anywho, since I'm still basically a beginner, this will be the bass that I mess around with. My other bass (Squier Vintage Modified J-Bass) is much nicer, and the one that I put more care into.
That being said, I am interested in upgrading the pickup and electronics, and based on what I read earlier in this thread, it looks like
Invalid Link Removed would be a good upgrade, correct? I know it's listed for a 5 string, but is that the correct one to upgrade to?
OH! And I almost forgot - do I need a club number?
