Dean Club!!!

The only real problem I have with it is the string tree. It seems to bind the strings easily due to the heavy break angle.

Like I said, mine had something other than the original string tree on it. It was chrome and also created a heavy break angle. I ordered one off eBay that was black and had a longer post which alleviated the break angle. If you are interested in maintaining the original look of the bass while still improving the string angle, that would be the way to go.

Take a look at the vids I posted above. Eric goes into detail about the different basses that make up the sum total of this bass. He borrowed from Music Man, Rickenbacker and Fender Jazz.

From player's perspective: vol, treb, mid, bass

I thought it was that at first, but my ears told me different when doing full boosts and cuts. Maybe prev. owner swapped the pots around, who knows. As long as the tone is good! I'm thinking about putting some kind of spacer under the existing string tree to help with the angle.

I started out with a Dean EABC, then I bought a Dean Hillsboro in white…traded it in and regretted it even though I like the bass I traded it for…I will definitely buy another.
About two months ago I bought this brand new for $215…blue tag sale at Guitar Center. It's my number one practice bass and it's great for open mic nights and backyard barbecues, etc.

Boy that's nice! I need an acoustic bass but have only looked at the Ibanez ones. This one is beautiful!
Played out for the first time last Friday night. Could've used my black Thunderbird with the cool DR Red Devils. Could've used my Thunderbird Pro IV with the wonderful-sounding flats.
I decided to go with the Dean Exotica and received quite a few compliments about it.

Recently I've been checking out the dean edge emg basses. it looks pretty cool and from what I've been told, it sounds totally awesome. I'm thinking about purchasing one. also I was thinking about purchasing a dean z metalman bass. I did wanted to own a dean z a couple years ago mainly because I am a fan of explorer basses. what I purchased at the time was a dean ml. have played with my brother's band and was given compliments about back then. anywho, I plan to buy those basses sometime soon.

I'm riding on tmdazed's coattails! I've heard it referred to as 'the Yugo of EUBs', but I'm learning scales, and messing around with it every weekend. (..."and now for something completely different"...for me, anyway!) If the number 420 is still available, I'll take that one...;)

That's a cool looking bass. I think of these basses as dean's answer to the warwick thumb basses. last month, I did a show with my brother's new band and the bass player of one of the bands has a dean sledgehammer and it sounds totally awesome. through his rig, he has a punchy aggressive sound. it was pretty cool show. anywho, congrads on your purchase. I enjoy playing dean basses myself. I like the dean edge basses. I think of them as dean's answer to the Ibanez soundgear basses. I also like the dean ml and z metalman basses. I'm thinking about getting a dean z bass sometime soon since I was a fan of explorer-styled basses. that and the dean edge emg. great sounding bass guitars.
