Dean Club!!!

Well the Evo finally arrived. Sweet little bass, weighs next to nothing. If there's any numbers going you can put me down for one.

Here she is

Hey, I figured this is the place to ask about the Eric Bass Hillsboro. I did multiple searches on the internet and this forum but came up empty. Does anyone know where the Eric Bass Hillsboro is made?

The Eric Bass is made in Korea.

I own one...see the bass in my avatar pic. Dean finally added the gloss white version this year. Almost a year after talking with Eric and him telling me they were going to do the white.

Excellent bass. Well worth the small amount of dough they ask for them. Mine is a 2011 and I bought it used last year at Guitar Center. $350 out the door and it doesn't have a scratch on it!

Ok, Ive seen it described here as the shrimp fork headstock. I assumed this was an edge model of some sort. Made in korea. Dean pickups, at least if theyre emg's they arent badged as such. two volume knobs, one tone. Anyone know what model it is? or might be? I havent seen any edges with this headstock?

I have no idea. Looks like there's nothing on the headstock either?

Did you buy that new and have it show up broken? I bought mine used last year (and it's a few years old as a 2011 model) and nothing was broken on it. Albeit the nut fell off when I cut the old strings off and the string retainer was not the original. Action was great right off the bat too.

Get that action right and you will love this bass. Get ready for compliments when you take it out for gigs - both on the looks and the sound. Some people find that the pickup output is too high. I just roll the volume off and go about my business. Mine is hot enough that it will overdrive all of my amps.

Congrats!!!

I bought it used here in the classifieds (it was a deal, wanted to try it). I worked on the action a lot today, and actually made a finish crack in the neck pocket from taking the neck on/off so much for shim adjustments. I really like the tone with treble and mids slightly boosted. Plenty of gunk in the tone, in a good way.

The only real problem I have with it is the string tree. It seems to bind the strings easily due to the heavy break angle. Thinging about instaling a bar retainer slightly farther back to accommodate the A string too. The string spacing is also pretty narrow compared to what I was playing recently, but I can adjust for sure.

Btw, just checking, but from the player's view left to right, the controls are Volume, Treble, Bass, Mids, right?

@wild4oldcars Here are some links to some cool vids with Eric Bass and info about his bass. I still watch these every now and then. Good history of the model and also the specs straight from the horse's mouth. Don't miss the last video which is a rundown of his complete live rig including the basses! Knowledgeable and nice dude!
