Dean Club!!!

Hey guys,

I am posting here because I am on the hunt for my first bass, and my attention was snatched by an used DB-91 - I don't know that for sure, because seller noted it as a DB-95 and when I had hashed it out with B-Mac here, he was of the opinion it was actually DB-91.

Sadly this model is not much talked about so I lack any information about how it behaves and I am not sure about the sound. Any info about it here? And how's the neck for playing - I am partial to Ibanez's SRDM neck, because it sits well in the hand - so what about this one's here?

Visually, it has small scratches on the body, and the seller says that the edges of the neck are in good state, the pickups are original. What bothers me, is that he wrote that when setting the knobs, there are sometimes small crackles heard coming out - is that deal breaker or not? And could it be repaired?

Thank you for your time and I look forward to your answers,

BSS

I think @barclaybass modified one of his Dean’s with Neon Green paint. Can’t recall what model.

Hey! It was actually green pinstriping that I had put onto my Z Tour bass to look like binding!
It looked cool as hell, but I need to find a better quality pinstripe material because it started to come up where ever I had to go around a corner.
LOVE the pink stripes, btw!!

I am kind of surprised you can still buy a brand new eb5 in tiger eye. That is you're willing to pay $750...
I bought one back when they were first out as a back up during a repair session on my regular player. It has only been played a few times. I think I'll get it out for the next session. Just for the hell of it. I know that gold plated hardware needs a polish just from sitting in the case all this time.
Here's one on ebay

I have listed it for sale a few times on C/L for $500 with zero interest in it being shown. May as well just play it.

The Edge Pro is a nice bass and a great deal for a neck through.

They're all new old stock.
Some have been sitting in shops hanging as demo's too.
There's quite a few other NOS Dean's out there like the Juggernaut and Paramount. Both discontinued in 2017.
My Edge 4 Flame Maple 2017 was NOS and I bought it last winter. Discontinued in 2018.

The Razor pro has a brass nut also.
Razor NT

Thanks for adding that.

However, that is only for the neck thru models, and not all years.

My Razor Standard, which is bolt on and active doesn't have a brass nut.

You had one and took it back, right?

Music Go Round Wilkes-Barre store?

@2many has 2

There were a bunch on the web and then poof, they all disappeared.

I still have the Razor. I bought it from GC after I called and they said it looked unplayed. Sure enough it was a closet queen. I think it was around $350.
Seems like there are fewer good deals these days on under appreciated basses.View attachment 4455764

Pretty sure it is a DB91. At least as I remember, my DB95 (5 string) didn't have a switch, it had 4 pots.
