Dean Club!!!

Letting go of my very little-used Motto bass, was told by a member of this thread to share my listing!
For Sale - Dean Motto 4-string fretted bass - Red/Maple

Nice bass, just thinning the herd...

Looks to be in great shape!

The other week I got new knobs for my '04 Edge, the kind with set screws. Of course, tightening and tightening the set screw and still have the knob fall loose perplexed me. Of course, it was then the peanut butter hit the chocolate and I realized the pot was split shaft kind that needed the pressure-fit type of knob.

So I bent the shaft back into shape and put the old knob on until the other day when I put new pressure fit knobs on. Of course, one side of the shaft split off. Opening the back panel I see that one must remove the pot entirely to see any label on it for a replacement. Well, I was gonna strip her down for a refinish anyway.

While I was hoping to order the new pot ahead of time, the refinish will take a couple weeks so, there's no rush I suppose. Just a little disappointment countered by new impetus to do the work sooner than later. Wooo! Rock and Roll!

Its always good to figure out the right part before trying to make the wrong part fit on any bass.

However, didn't you notice that you had the wrong knobs from the get go when you took the old knobs off that just pulled off without having to fiddle with any set screws? Sometimes the excitement can keep you from seeing clearly.

Was this for the 'White' modded Edge you posted a while back? Is it almost complete?

Yup. I did not take one glance or have one thought on the physics of it all. lolz. At 18yrs old, it was getting old anyway. lolz. Actually the poles do show some rough surface indicitave of early stage corrosion, so maybe I'll swap them all out while at it. At worst it's a fiver on me; at best it's duo-decadal maintenance time anyway.

And yes this is the white edge of mine. With all the other new basses around here it's gotten a little jealous.

As it happens, the original Kenner R2-D2 heads makes a perfect bass knob with a little drilling out. The whole Edge is going R2-style. Of particular note is the neck. I have been an oil painting portrait artist in my past, so am diving into my oils to first paint the neck titanium white and then lay down a nice deep prussian blue. Being oils, they should help saturate and protect the neck further. Years ago I laid purssian blue over the natural dark and you can't tell at all.

The body is going glow in the dark with R2 paneling, silver highlight lines and blue spot colors. Maybe some rusts, we'll see which R2 I emulate. There were numerous ones in each movie that change slightly from scene to scene. Maybe some LEDs, maybe not. The power issues that arise are enough to keep me away. I'll post a thread when it happens, hopefully by end of year.

That edge pro seems to have a lot of B2 "influence" in it's features...
5 knob setup, flame top, unadorned fretboard- just the one inlay
Just wondering, what are your thoughts
Edge Pro came before B2. Edge Pro basically replaced the Czech Edge Select series.

Both Edge Pro and B2 are neck through though, but electronics are totally different. B2 is Fishman Electronics and 3 pup (counting piezo). Probably same Flame Maple Source?

BMac,
It is very cool to be able to put up a question to you, and get a good/substantive answer...
Have added your info to my "memory banks"! Again!

I really appreciate the compliment. I always try to back up an answer with actual data. If I’m not sure I’ll also state that.
