Dean Club!!!

I now have three Dean basses!

Okay, no. It's just one bass with three courses of strings. 🤪
Bought it off someone today, cash. Flew all the way to Philadelphia to get it. lol

This beast is going to be tuned down to Low G with an octave up for the outter course (which would be your typical G string on bass) then the middle is a minor third above that.

Already have an order of DR Neons on the way to my local music shoppe. Pink, green, blue. Like fire! All wound because basses have no business wearing plain strings!

This Czech Improv, with its EMG CS pickups, brass nut, and stiff build is def a snarly sounding mofo. I'm impressed by how well built it is too!

When you absolutely, positively must kill everyone in the room....:woot:

Came across this a few weeks ago and acquired it in a private sale. A Prototype Palomino Bass.
No date or S/N is on the bass without looking inside with a mirror and light.
ES-175 shape, Florentine cutout, Maple Body, Archtop, Maple Neck, Rosewood FB and 34" scale.

Fits nice and snug in a Yorkville YBC-4HJC case for an Epiphome JC Sig bass. Also works for ES-335 shaped basses.

@BradWorld posted this quite a few years ago. At the time he stated he wished they went to production as it was only a prototype I think from 2011?
Mine is slightly different as it has a trapeze tailpiece.

@Avezzano had a similar looking bass which was a natural finish Stylist B-1 which has the Venetian cutout and 32" scale and different shaped body.

No one at Dean knows what it is. Brad Mader (customer service manager) at Dean thought it was a Stylist which obviously it isn't. Not in any catalog except in Palomino Guitar version which came in Palomino with 3 P-90's, Palomino Trifecta with 3 Humbuckers and Palomino Solo with one mini humbucker floating at the end of the neck.

Palomino guitar with P-90's for comparison

Hello Dean people!

When I was a wee lad, one of my first basses was a Dean ML Metalman.

About 20 years later, im back in the club!

Always liked the hillsboro style, and the 1 humbucker is right up my alley.

Picked it up used at the local GC today while out shopping with the wife.
How all great finds are found!

Here's a pic of Cosmo and Wanda!
(The Pink "Fender" is a Chender knock off i got for fun for dirt cheap. actually pretty nice)

Big fan of the pickguard style on this one over the other ones.
Some of the headstock/logo designs are nicer than this one...
But, big fan of that style in general!

After a lil set up when i got home, it plays great!
But, man....the pickup is HOTTTTT

peaking my whole rig!
crazy

Sounds good though!

I received this Rhapsody 12 yesterday. What a surprize, what a story.
How do I join Club Dean,to share it?
Well, you posted a pic of it so you're getting a member number! :hyper:

Looks sweet! Is it new? NOS? Used?

What are the first few characters numbers on the back of the headstock?

Do a search for 'rhapsody' within this thread, not all of TB and you'll find quite a bit of info including catalog pages.

I bought a used Dean Acoustic Bass about 2 years ago. Ran into an issue with the pickup a few days and wrote to Dean CS about it. Got an answer with a solution to my issue the same day. Just wanted to give a shout out to Dean Customer Service.
Was it Scott Fraser or Jerimie Schieder or Brad Mader? They're all good guys!
