Dean Club!!!

Musicians Friend has both Black and Tobacco Sunburst Models for $299.00 shipped and they haven't started adding Tax yet, at least they didn't yesterday when I placed an order for some accessories.

Music 123 and Guitar Center have them for the same price too.

I got lucky...mine was $274 from a small shop in New Jersey

I just checked my catalogs and these don't appear until 2015. I thought they were around longer than that but I guess I'm wrong? Not all of my catalogs are full catalogs. Some are just new models or NAMM catalogs.

Hello B-Mac,

Looks like the Paramount & Juggernaut have been discontinued. Only way to get one is through a local Dean guitars dealer if they have it in stock or online.

Best Regards

I'm gonna wait to see if they go lower. If I can grab another one at around the $225 price point, I'll pull the trigger on a black and Maple.

I'm predicting someone is gonna end up with a heap of these and blow them out. :D

I just hope there's one left for me by the time I come up with some $$. :hyper:

I wish there was a way to explain how nice these are for the money. A serious bargain, truly. They have a very high quality feel to them. Much nicer than I think most people would expect. I was blown away.

This dropped at the right time for me. I've never owned a Jazz Bass and I had decided it's time to get one and I had it down to 3 choices; a MIM Geddy Lee, an Aerodyne or the new Schecter J-4. I'm getting the Dean with the EMG JVX set and save a bunch of $$$.

Usually something like that happens on Amazon but so far I only see one for $499

Paramount
So, what's your preference?

I see a similar variation with the Bridge as far as size and placement on these too.
wth is going on there, different scale lengths? the P PU being closer to the bridge would certainly change the tone to more treble and Jazzier I'd think, fortunately the bridge is back on the maple / bursts I'd choose in either category. but that would weigh heavily on my buying, thx for pointing this out.

Scale length is the same.

The shorter bridge is placed higher on the body and the saddles end up at the same location as the saddles on the larger bridge placed lower.

Mine is a 2015 (NOS) model year and has the smaller bridge placed higher and is 34" scale.

However, I don't know anyone here that has a different later model year with the larger bridge, so that bass could be a stock photo of a prototype that doesn't even exist for the general buying public. The picture from the catalog shows the bigger bridge at the lower position on the body.

A similar thing happened with @Sub-Frequency Edge 3 concerning the active control knobs. So this could be a similar situation.

[edit]
A quick google of Paramount and Juggernaut images appears to validate my suspicion. Only stock photos show the larger lower placed bridge. 'Actual real' photos all show the smaller higher placed bridge.

more good info, I'd still prefer the setup and color scheme as mentioned. maybe there will be a new PJ (!)

These have officially been discontinued within that last week or so. Both the Paramount and the Juggernaut. Read a few posts above this when you get a chance. Selling at GC and GC affiliated on-line websites for $299

I've been following and the whole time been wishing there was a PJ in the mix. kinda odd there isn't...
That is a good point. Of my Dean's only one is a PJ and that's a Hillsboro Passive.

From memory I think they only did PJ's on the Edge 09, Edge 1, Edge 10 and Hillsboro Junior. Maybe the EVO XM too?
I'll have to double check that so don't quote me.
My Hillsboro PJ is a real oddball.
