Well,
Could be I am "local" to the Tampa area---- could be dean just makes some KILLER guitars--but this is my 8th-- and -- this one is NOT going anywhere.

(not bragging) I have Gibson basses (62 Eb-and 70's G3) and USA Made Peavey Basses (T-40, T-45, Unity Dyna) and Fender/Squires----but this Dean-- is VERY well made -- its ON par with any otehr bass I have played-- the electronics simply WORK-- well-- no issues-- and its soid and well balanced--at first I thought it was UGLY AS HELL-- and when on the Dean Factory Tour I wanted to play it in the sample room BECAUSE it was so ugly---

My thinking was -- this has got to be HORRIBLE look at it!-----

I was amazingly WRONG
-- what a great feeling/playing/sounding bass--

Here are some pics from the tour--

Great "open door" policy at Dean -- the tours are every Thursday at 2 pm.

Highly recommend.

Your edge is actually an Edge Q5 (based on Edge Q4, but 5 string) The Edge Q came in 4, 5 and 6 string. There was also the Edge Q4B which had Barotlini pups and only came in 4 string version. See first bass on left.
(did you modify your bridge?)

I personally have done nothing to it except re-stringing it. Any mods would have been done by the previous owner. I hate taking advantage of a "starving" musician but when a deal is too good to pass up, ya gotta jump!

I did some research and measured the pickup on my Dean Edge 09. The long edge seems to be 4 1/8 inches. The short edge is 1 1/2 inches. Iv'e started looking, but i haven't found anything that matches that exactly. Most other 4 string soapbars seem to be around 3 inches, and 5 strings seem to be around 4.
Now it makes absolute sense why @Rolo used the particular EMG pickups that he did

So, does any one know anything about the Dean Edge 1 Six String? I'm looking for a budget 6er cause I'm unsure if I'd adjust well. Specifically this Edge 1.

Invalid Link Removed

I’ve been eyeing these myself and actually posted them here as soon as the Dean website changed a few pages back if you’re interested

The Edge 1 six string for $269 appears to be a great deal. The look of this particular model reminds me a lot of the old Edge Hammer

These are MIC as is the Edge 09 Edge 2 and Edge 3
The Edge 4 and Edge Pro are made in Indonesia
All of these are no longer MIK
The Edge Pro is also no longer a neck thru

These changes all appear on the updated Dean website for the 2019 model year.

I have not seen a review on these anywhere yet. @Sub-Frequency gives a great review on his Edge 3

WOW that is cheap!
Ive not had an Edge Six-- I had an Edge 4 Pro-- and it was excellent-- shoulda never sold it :(
Actually there never actually was an Edge 6
All Edge 6 were Edge 4 in a 6 string version as was the Edge 5

This new 6 string is an Edge 1 in a six string version and is passive unlike previous Edge series 6 strings which were active

There were five string versions of the Edge 09 and Edge 1

Leme know if ya make it to the Swamp-- Im always looking for an excuse to hang out at the Dean factory :)
free tours are Thursdays at 2 pm ;)
When I see a good deal on something I’ve been eyeing I find it difficult to pass up. The ‘make an offer’ option on Reverb and some eBay auctions has been working my way lately on things I felt for sure wouldn’t go for what I offered).

I just let a real nice Razor NT slip away that was on GC used for less than $300.
That’s one of their special ones to me that is on my wish list

The Juggernaut was at a great price new and I didn’t have a Jazz type bass (though my Warwick Corvette and Dean Brian Bromberg are both Jazz style)
