I've got two Deans. One is a Custom Zone Nuclear Green that I've painted the neck on to match with the body better, and the other is my EAB acoustic/electric. The Nuke is currently on loan to a friend.

Welcome!

Nice.

There are a few devoted fans here of the Custom Zone.

@armyadarkness and @rtslinger and @Patrick own one.

@McG and @Leftka own the EAB as well as I (EABC)

And welcome to Dean Club!!!
Yes welcome, and I am running mine stock I haven't any need to change anything, because in my hands the tone on these basses are killer imo.

I hear you...I currently own over 21 Dean basses with a USA Prototype Hillsboro J made by Jon Hill for the NAMM show from 2009 on the way

Replying to my own post...

My USA Dean Prototype Hillsboro J bass arrived... in two parts on two different days. The body arrived Saturday and the neck arrived today. Made by luthier Jonathan Hill for the 2009 NAMM show when Jon was still at Dean.

Two Bartolini J pups, flats, one volume and 3 way pup switch. Maple FB and Birdseye Maple Neck and Ash Body.
Oil open rubbed wax pore finish.

Very deep dark tone with the flats on it. Playing closer to bridge brings some highs. Thin fast neck.

This is my second USA Dean and I am very impressed. Gentleman from Canada is selling his collection due to health issues.

Looks similar to what Jon is doing now

for bass imo it all starts with the neck, and what a neck that is! I'd say you've done good.

So- that neck is simply striking. Congrats!

Ordered a Dean Paramount Bass from guitar center, it should be here in a couple of days. Got it for an absolute steal - $300 new (from what I've seen they're normally that price used). Plus, it has a maple fretboard! I've wanted a bass with a maple fretboard for some time.

Edit: changed "new" to used - that's what I meant to type earlier. I'm an idiot.

I think you will love it. Some of the nicest necks available regardless of cost. Everything about these basses is really great. Let us know how you like it.

They’re normally $499 new

That’s what they were last week

Two and a half weeks ago they were $299

They and the Juggernaut have been discontinued

I picked up a new Juggernaut about 3 weeks ago. Love it.
Have Dean USA DMT PUPS ON order to replace the asian pups

Thanks for pointing that out - I meant to type used. I see them online used for $300-$350. I hate they're being discontinued. Guitar Center appears to have just added the Paramount and Juggernaut to their website as available for purchase new, and have brought back the Eric Bass Signature Hillsboro in satin white for $549. I'm really excited about this bass; I'm gonna put some La Bella Gold flatwounds on it after I get it (I love the "P-bass with flats" tone).

Go back a few pages and read more about the Paramount and the Juggernaut when you get a chance.

They’re also on Musicians Friend, Music 123 and Brasswind Woodwind. (All the GC affiliates)

@Mark Yurick and @Sub-Frequency both own Paramounts.

I really like Dean bass necks especially the satin ones. They’re thin and fast.
