although I don't have a Dean pointy I also love pointy basses with Kahlers and still use mine over here every now and then

amimbari, forgot to mention I have equal love for Charvel/Jackson basses. My Pearl white now cream 1986 3B attests to this. I am constantly selling and trading basses but the 3B is a keeper.
so any one elses dean Zone XM change colors on them... mine had this flat black look to it when i got it... now it's turned a deep dark brown... i have to say though... i like it!
I put chromes on it and haven't looked back ...
I do have some issues that i still need to sort out ... that didn't start bothering me until i recently started playing with a band... that being said... this bass met all expectations i had and i expected some issues at 100 bucks.
-Saddles are as low as they can go ... will shimming the neck fix it? makes sense raise the neck a lil... raise the saddles
-Playing the 10th fret or lower is just not good the frets down there are not level and the sound that happens can't be described as musical in my opnion ... anyone else have this issue? a good majority of the notes are just dead. not that i play down there very often but still

I guess i should call them up and ask for a replacement neck?
I'd like to get these things straightened out ... this bass is light and i absolutely love the thin neck.
At the end of the day i only paid 100 bucks... i was aware that there would be some shortcomings ... it's just taken a year to figure out exactly what i want in a bass ... im happy to say i've played several other basses and the neck just doesn't feel right or the bass is heavier.
For my first bass getting back into playing after a very long break ... it's just a good value.
Currently GASS'in for a HILLSBORO SINGLE! man i want that white one. but the neck looks thicker than what i got
*Edit i just remembered i got the Guitar Center 2yr Pro Coverage Thing 2/13/2010 ... guess i need to make a trip to guitar center... i can't believe I kept up with the documentation (receipt) sweet!!!! I already had the bass replaced on 4/20/2010 because the screws on the jack plate stripped out. Sure wood glue and tooth picks would have fixed it... but that's not why i paid the extra 20 bucks.
If you buy something from guitar center... the 20 bucks is worth it for this plan.

I use to own a dean edge bass. lately I've been thinking about buying one again. I plan to by dean edge 5-string bass real soon.
