Yeah, it is! I absolutely looooooove playing my Paramount on this one song we're gonna do in a couple weeks. Feels so smooth, and sounds so great!

I picked up a used Dean Edge 2 five-string and am loving it so far. I tried it up against some much more expensive fivers and preferred the slim neck and light weight of the Dean.

Many people here love the fast necks on the Edge basses, especially the satin finished necks. Please post a picture or two of your 5-er!

Well, my Paramount sounds pretty good in a mix with a guitar track, and with a wah thrown in some for good measure (gotta see how drums will sound in this, too).

You're really putting that Paramount to the test and I have to say it sounds like its passing with honors!

Thanks! Yeah, I really love how it sounds. I saved the isolated bass track, too, that way I can remember what I played for this thing

Hello Talkbass, this is my first post here I'm a long time lurker but this is my first post. I have done search after search in hopes of finding out what model of Dean bass I have, I picked this bass up a little over a year ago in a pawn shop, and have been clueless as to what model it is.

She has EMG HZ pickups, which sound bright and punchy but I am also confused on those as well....lol First thing first though, here are a couple of pics of my bass in hopes some of you good folks can help a newbie out, I can then go into more detail about my questions about the pickups.

Please provide a picture of the back of the headstock with the S/N
Looks to be an early Edge Q4 (Q for quilt) plus it has a previous headstock shape.
if your serial starts with '7' after a letter it is a 1997 model, ...'8'...it is a 1998 model, '9' it is a 1999 model.

Thanks for the info B-Mac, whats weird is the serial # on the back is unrecognizable, I'll get a pic as soon as possible so you can see what Im speaking of.

Just as I suspected, there is no serial #, only a strip of something or other that says "custom made by (insert name) USA, there unfortunately no serial #....the first name looks to be Dean, can't make out the last name though. This is a complete mystery to me

That sticker is bogus

But it’s definitely the Edge Q4 as shown above

I’ll post a few similar backs of other headstocks
