Paramount continues to impress. I thought my Player P had a nice neck but this one is just about perfect IMO. It's got a smoothness about it that reminds me of EBMM basses, and the width for me is spot on, not too narrow or too wide.
Also loving the pickups, they're very musical and clear, but I can still get that thumpy P sound by rolling off the tone and palm muting. So far the sweet spot for the volume is around 75%.
Another big difference is the E string feels more tight and articulate compared to my Fender, and I wonder if the higher mass bridge on the Dean has anything to do with that. It certainly has more sustain. The 22 frets and ease of access to those higher frets makes playing chords a joy, and something I don't usually do as much of on a P bass.
The real test will be live, but no gigs lined up for another 3 weeks. I'm sure it'll sound fantastic.
Can't recommend this bass enough. If you love P basses and don't care what name is on the head stock this is the best deal out there that I know of. I don't feel the need to change or mod anything, just a setup and you're g2g.
