Dean Club!!!

Paramount continues to impress. I thought my Player P had a nice neck but this one is just about perfect IMO. It's got a smoothness about it that reminds me of EBMM basses, and the width for me is spot on, not too narrow or too wide.

Also loving the pickups, they're very musical and clear, but I can still get that thumpy P sound by rolling off the tone and palm muting. So far the sweet spot for the volume is around 75%.

Another big difference is the E string feels more tight and articulate compared to my Fender, and I wonder if the higher mass bridge on the Dean has anything to do with that. It certainly has more sustain. The 22 frets and ease of access to those higher frets makes playing chords a joy, and something I don't usually do as much of on a P bass.

The real test will be live, but no gigs lined up for another 3 weeks. I'm sure it'll sound fantastic.

Can't recommend this bass enough. If you love P basses and don't care what name is on the head stock this is the best deal out there that I know of. I don't feel the need to change or mod anything, just a setup and you're g2g.
They are a real steal!

If the Paramount is discontinued I wonder why GC is listing the sunburst n rosewood version at $499 and "Expected to Ship 10-20-2019"? MF is advertising the same.

Hello B-Mac,

Looks like the Paramount & Juggernaut have been discontinued. Only way to get one is through a local Dean guitars dealer if they have it in stock or online.

Best Regards

Right, I read that post of yours. Just wonder why websites are taking orders for the sunburst model if it is discontinued. Maybe they're waiting on a shipment of old stock?

We can always ask Brad?

Seems odd

However, when they first dropped the price to $299 they went back to $499 for about 2 weeks and then dropped to the $259 or $264 price (one was the Paramount price and the other the Juggernaut price, I can’t recall which was which)

Honestly, I even emailed Elliot when he was still around.

I tried several times to convince him to make the Exotica Quilt Ash ABG with Aphex in a 5 string

Only CEO of a guitar company that would reply to my emails. He was cool.
RIP Elliot ‘Dean’ Rubinson

I only saw this for the maple fb and rosewood fb

If I had to guess maybe the last batch Dean had manufactured hasn't arrived from the factory yet, and they were all sunburst.
That would be odd too as I believe they’re 2016 possibly 2017 models MIK

It seems all Dean Basses are MIC and MI Indonesia now except the MIK 12 String Rhapsody, obviously not counting anything from the Dean custom shop in Florida

Yeah when I went to pick up the Paramount at GC one employee was excited to check it out because he's endorsed by Dean (as a guitar player). He thought for sure it would be MIC because of the price and was surprised it was MIK. He is bummed all the non US models aren't being made there anymore.

MIK Deans with S/N starting with E are made in the Korean World factory which msde a lot of late 90’s early oughts Epiphones

MIK Deans with S/N starting with US are made in the Korean Un Sung which has made basses for other manufacturers

The 12 string Rhapsody is still made st the Un Sung factory
