Unfortunately Warwick were only supposed to get the rights to produce the Wooden buzzard. The estate solicitors, with remarkable short sightedness, increased that to anything remotely to do with bass guitars.
Relations with Status were damaged severely due to this, with my profound regrets.
Possible in the future? Always open to discussions.

I do hope relations with Rob and Dawn can be 'repaired', I think they and John were a perfect match - and having one of your Dad's B1's, I can say beyond all doubt that he chose wisely!

I've seen these a few times now, very cool - make me almost pull the trigger - but I've read that they have serious neck dive.

Can any owners of one of these verify neck dive or no and if they found a solution? And what do they weigh in at?

Original Thunderbirds have some neck dive, much ado about nothing imho. True Fenderbirds with their thick bodies I think would not not.

The JAEbird Standard with poplar body has less neck dive than any of my personal Gibson Thunderbirds. The Custom, with a Honduras Mahogany body is very close to neutral, it can be optioned with HipShot Ultralites or similar to eliminate it completely or very close, bodies vary a little bit in weight. The Standard weighs approximately 8.5 lbs, the Custom 9.

Oops, I have to disclose, I make these 'birds. The Standard pups make a fairly convincing noise, certainly better than an Epi bolt on 'Bird. The Duncans in the Custom sound very good from top to bottom, the mahogany really brings out the tone IMO. There must be a thread somewhere about them. The models are SS4N and SS4B.

I am sure that it can all be worked out with Rob. I have one his B2 models and I believe only Rob could do justice to a (B1)Buzzard reissue and do it the right way ( In my opinion)

What's interesting to me is that the two USA models (Spyder and Hybrid) have the compression circuit, something that John did not like on the Gibson RD77 Artist (according to his book Bass Culture, John stated that Gibson was going to call it the "Entwistle Bass"). As I have an RD77 Artist, I'm curious as to what the setup on the Dean will do/sound like.

Oliver - I'm just curious as to what that circuit does/doesn't do. John didn't like the RD, and it had the "expansion circuit," which works like a compressor, but only on the front pickup on the RD. As you say, we have replicas just like John's old basses (Alembic and Status respectively, and you've owned Alembics as well), so I won't be buying a Dean.

BTW, I have a friend who's going to check it out at NAMM ... more to follow.

Maybe I'm just too old (51), but GOOD GRIEF! That live stream just isn't for me! Yes, I remember Leslie West and Michael Schenker, but that dude with the pony-tail coming out of the top of his skull twirling it around while trying to play with West made me vomit. His constant overuse of the low B on the bass that sounded like one long fart just ruined it even more for me. He needs to realize he needs to lay back in the mix at least once in awhile.

Just my rant.
