Decorating a room, oldschool-like.

I often dream about my TB friends, that we roam forth in a giant green meadow with rows of 810s and all our favorite amp heads. Basses abound, from the small to the mighty, in every color, 4 strings to 12. The Earth rumbles gently beneath our feet. We romp & play, making low end jokes under a red glowing sun.

Then we were invaded by a slovenly guitard, whose wailing disturbed our peaceful slumber. We marched forth, armed with our favorite gear, to destroy the unwanted and he too became a brother of the low end. And we all led perfect lives with nightly gigs of the highest pay!

Paint the walls orange, put up 60s/70s band posters. Get one of those post modern egg chairs.

Try some of this stuff:

That's the right direction. Ah, the nostalgia of times I wasn't even born...

Yeah. Fits the bill, but looks too... 'tidy'. Certainly lots of usable ideas in there though, I like it.

And regarding reruns of TV sitcoms... not that I know of. We only get 'That 70s show', which I don't follow.

I like that cigarette smoke idea, though I don't smoke... regular cigs, so yeah.

So I may move out of my parent's house sometime soon and I thought...

Since I'm like, mentally stuck in the late 60s/early 70s, I wonder what I can do to make my new apartment/room look like it's from that period.

This is mainly directed at the older folks - what types of furniture, wallpapers and misc. gadgets were typical of that time? I know my stereo would fit in perfectly, as it mainly consists of second-hand parts from the early 70s, lol :D

Other nostalgia is also welcome, like how living back then was and whatnot. Haha...
camo netting on the ceiling, wire spool coffee table with the core removed and rebuilt with ripple bottles, one wicker basket chair hanging the ceiling, acoustic guitar leaning in a corner, copies of on the road, marx's manifesto, and some carlos casteneda books, one(only)black light poster of hendrix,or the dead, but not both,a black light, several candles in wine bottles....

the boesch???? depiction of hell album cover from deep purple's self titled effort,on the table for you to ponder it's deeper meaning, soda crates full of record albums, and a sansui stereo, and a copy of that desiderata poster.....

hope that helps

I remember those hanging wicker chairs.

Why not both? BUT I LIKE BOTH

And I already have a Sansui stereo, so that's one off the list, haha.

Good suggestions though. Gotta check out that blacklight.
sorry but those are the rules....tho' you can sub a regular poster or two of a live show on sunset strip,or from a teach in/sit in/love in/be in.....some macrame is optional, but highly recommended,as are some bells over the door

Hmm... getting posters like that is gonna be tough over here though, I'm afraid :|

I guess I could make my own posters though? Maybe use vinyls as posters, put some screws in the wall, let a vinyl stand on top of those? Sounds like a good idea to me... but hmm, drilling holes... ergh.

nope.....proper installation requires tape curls on the back corners, and frames are strictly prohibited....dhoop sticks are permitted everywhere but the indian sub continent.....university pennants are allowed as long as collegiate athletics or rotc are not present....you may have early newsprint issues of rolling stone,a small flat soapstone hash pipe, and some zig zag rolling papers......freak brothers/zap comix may only be present if pot is kept in the home

Dope will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no dope.

Actually, I got a compilation of freak brothers comics, but no dope.

:hiding:
then they must be loaned to a friend that you know will never return them....the upside is that you can mention/bemoan the loss of your mags to any unsuspecting visitor(s) forever....you may replace the mags when you replace your stash....possession of a first edition is forbidden....

Your table should be an old telephone cable spool.
Shelves for books and dope paraphernalia should be boards supported by cinderblocks.
Couches should come from booths at a Denny's or other coffeeshop, thrown out when they renovate.

Milk crates. Get plenty of milk crates to stack next to your cinder block shelves.

Also, throw away any remote controls and walk your butt across the room any time you want to change channels. AND, you can only use four channels. NBC, ABC, CBS, and PBS. In a couple of years, we'll tell you about the "Superstation", TBS, and you can then watch Leave it to Beaver, Father Knows Best and Andy Griffith reruns.

If you have a hat rack, you need to make a hat out of pieces of Old Milwaukee beer cans and macrema, and hang it up. That ios your new lake/fishing hat.

My final contribution is don't forget the incense and little Buddha incense holder.

Don't forget the strobe light, pictures of musicians cut out from old music magazines taped to the wall. A Raquel Welsh poster. Boones Farm wine bottle vases and candle holders. Curtains made out of blankets with pictures on them or just plain colored sheets. Don't forget the burnt orange and the strange tones of green and yellow appliances.
