I thnk he's hilarious. He's good at talking to the camera, savvy with 21st century technology, and within that context seems to be a great at bass. It's safe to assume he'd be a good bass player to see live. Now THAT would be interesting.

Definitely. I'd love to see him playing live, but I don't follow his channel anymore because playing the bass doesn't seem the main attraction anymore.

I did because I never knew his name. To me he was just “that dude whose videos I ignore”. He can flat out outplay me with one hand behind his back but a lot of people can. Just don’t find him entertaining.

I want to know why he doesnt use his Chowny Davie504 Signature bass anymore. Yeah, I love the Ray34 he has, but there wasnt anything wrong with the Chowny.

While Davie504 is not my cup of tea (in terms of contemporary bassists, I vastly prefer bassist Nathan Navarro's channel), he is one of the most visible and famous bassists out there. He's making bass cool for a new generation. If he's inspiring kids to pick up bass, then more power to him. If he's flipping the script on the cultural landscape and making bass the up-front, recognizable, lead instrument, I say great!

If I tell a kid I play bass, and they say, "Oh cool, like Davie504?" I'll take that over, "Huh, wha?" I say it all the time that I think younger generations are more familiar with bass and more attuned to it in their music than prior generations weaned on guitar.

And, hey, if Davie504 inspires people to delve deeper, maybe into Nathan Navarro's channel, then they'll uncover all the wonderful heroes we old-heads hold in esteem.

Speaking of nathan navarro, just saw this video released today:



Saw them live in late February of this year and was very surprised when I saw Nathan walk out as I had no idea he was playing with DT.

I really like him too, fun content, great licks, no sucking up to brands or goofy reviews, just a guy challenging you to slappppp. I used to be really into guys like Rhett Shull but got really disillusioned with some stuff ... Davie504 is just about playing, and i enjoy that much more ,,

I think he really gets how to make YouTube videos interesting. So many channels are people droning on forever with a frame on them sitting with a guitar or bass. So boring.

His series where he plays city or place songs (Africa, Country Roads) in the places they are about are really cool. In Africa while playing Africa on a Bass uke, or whatever it is, he seems genuinely humbled.
