deltalite 2512 cab designs.

So, with the popularity of the fearful range of cabs, I am curious to know if anyone has created a similar design around eminence deltalite 2512's?
The reason I ask is that I've got a pair of those speakers which went into a bfm jack 212, although I wasn't particularly blown away with the sound of that cab.
I'm looking to build a 212 cab around these speakers, and just wondered if anyone had come across a good design?
Or should I reverse engineer my aguilar db112's into one cab?
I do like the sound of my aggies BTW :)

finishing off a two 1-12 design based on something Sundogue posted on earlier this year. They're 2 cubic feet and tuned to somewhere in the 50s IIRC. Nothing unusual, but the construction is based somewhat on the fEARFULs in that they're 1/2" birch plywood w/strategically placed bracing. No mids, no tweet as the guy I'm building them for prefers a more old school sound, albeit somewhat updated.

Not done yet as I'm still in finishing mode, but they really sound good w/just the 200 watts from my GK400RB. Very full and even sounding. Building them for a local bassist who's going to snag an SWR head at around 500 watts for them.

These don't have the same excursion and T/S as the 3012s so the performance and sound isn't going to be same as the 3012LFs. Not sure how they'll compare to the 3012LO, the full range version, either. Curious to hear what others have to say.

i have an old sealed ampeg v4 cab with four of them in it. IMO, they sound great full range, but for me, i use a little eq to cut at 2.5-3K to take some of the 'snap' out of them. they do have a decent x/max spec (4.9mm), so they are capable of a fair amount of low end (@100Hz) and mid bass.

I've never played a sealed cab though, especially with 12's. How does your beast go volume wise JohnK? I play in a fairly loud rock cover band with PA support, but I often push the aggies fairly hard.

IME, the four 2512's will go louder than my ampeg 8x10 cab and due to their 99.9dB sensitivity it does it with less power too.

If you're cool with response to 60hz you can put them in a fairly compact design. If you try to push your f3 down into the 50's a ways the gox gets pretty big. They are loud. The rising response in the mids gives them a little different tonal flavor but nothing that can't be adjusted with eq. Never tried one in a sealed box but if john says they sound good, I believe it. If crossing to a 6 the upper mid output becomes a non-issue.

not sure if the specs changed, quite possibly, I'm using the DeltaLite IIs, and my cabs are 1-12s stacked/latched on top of each other, not 2-12s :). Looks a lot like these two 1-10s, but w/o the wheeled storage box at the bottom.

Yes, these are a simplification of Sundogue's design (ie no mid driver), he was very cool about giving me a few pointers based on his experience with it. I plan on eventually swapping out the PV drivers w/S2010s as the cabs are spec'd perfectly for them. The PVs are OK so they'll just get recycled into something else.

I checked the specs on the original 2512s and you're right, they're different from the DL II's.

Are the 3012HOs better still than the DL II's in terms of performance etc?

Yep. Although price is going north and availability will be going south at some point sooner than later which will further increase price so if you want to make the switch, don't drag your feet.

thanks, have been keeping an eye on that thread all day, guess people like to expect the worst.

Regardless, it seems the OP's original driver is still around and is well loved though it seems the 30xx series gets the bulk of the press around here.

In my experience I think for the price/performance ratio the 2512-II is a very good driver. I will continue to use it as my go-to driver for the builds I'm doing as long as I can keep sourcing it. So far it's not been a problem.
