Looks like a winner and certainly I love the Minnie power amp. That said, two features on my wish list would be:

1. standby/mute. With a "real" tube preamp, I prefer to keep that powered up all gig/day. With my current setup if I've got a long break on a gig or I'm in-between practice sessions at home, I leave Monique powered up and shut down Minnie.

I suggested this to James at NAMM, and it sounds like this should be easy to add.

A mute is a great idea. I don't really need one for live gigs but for simple 'everyday' playing at home a mute is just so useful.

Not a deal breaker, but a three-way "on-standby/mute/off" or a dedicated "standby/mute" switch would be a wonderful addition. Glad to hear that James was receptive to the idea.

I found the Monique a little dark for my taste. I wonder how this would compare. Semi parametric high and low mids sure would be handy.

Definitely a bit more bright and airy than Monique.

Oh geez...Here comes the GAS again. But to be fair this looks like the perfect set up for me. Now to start saving the ducats. Let's hope my promotion/raise comes through. Then I'll be able to afford one no problem.

From Demeter 2/10/14 (concerning a standby feature) -

It would seem easy but it becomes complicated as our power supply is very simple and does not supply a proper voltage to mute the amp relay. We are looking into other ways of muting but none is better than muting the AMP. If it were simple it [surely] would already be there. [Still,] we are working on it.

Mute is a feature I like.
Rolling the master volume shut isn't hard though.

There will be definite similarities, but as the new VTBP-201-800D uses the 201s preamp, I would expect a slight dip in the mids, relative to the VTBP-M-800D.

+1. I always kick on my tuner when I am done a set.

Alternatively, I was given a couple of those Planet Waves cables with the kill/mute switch. Pretty cool except when you forget you actually have cables with mute switches and can't figure out why there is no sound.
