Diamond P-Custom 5

Hey gang need input. What ya think of this bass:

I am looking for a 5 sting and this one has really struck me, sound and looks wise. Never had a Schecter, so need your input on them... likes, dislikes all that good stuff. Thanks :)

I have never owned a Schecter, but have played a few in stores before I went back to J5's. For the dough, I thought they were very, very good instruments. I have never played this model, but man, the pickup/electronics seem well done!

Don't know if you mean Grand Island NY, but 'round here, there were VERY few 5'ers to check out. The usual Fenders and I dont like their necks, and a few Schecters ( I did), Ibanez(SG) ( I liked Schecter better), and the high end stuff like KSmiths.

I ended up buying a used Lakland 55-01 here.

I've tried the 4 string of this twice. My lasting memory is the weight, the flatter wider neck and the weight.

I have a minor history of backpain, pinched and trapped nerves so I always look at the weight of a bass.

The sound of the bass was good though, and I liked the provision of the extra splitable pickup.

"Fretboard: ... The sound is richer in fundamental than Maple because the stray overtones are absorbed into the oily pores"

I'm glad to see Schecter has finally settled this for us.

Just saw your edit... yup Grand Island NY... yea not a lot of 5ers around... I found one at GC in Rochester the other day when I ran out there. yea mostly Fenders... I have a Fender P 4 string... but really want an aggressive 5er.... this one seems to fit :)

Judging from what I see on forums, Schecter doesn't seem to have any quality issues.

That humbucker is waaaay back towards the bridge. Not gonna do Stingray tones, for sure. But if the tone floats your boat, why not?

My only concern would be resale value, if you're buying it new. A clean used US-made G&L would likely cover some of the same ground tonally, and hold its value better.
