Dingwall Combustion NG2

Hey all. I'm now a full fledged Dingwall believer. So to position myself for me next one, whatever that may be, I'd like to move my NG2 to a new home ASAP to be ready to move quickly on what comes next. I thought I'd offer it here first sines this is a very focused group with the highest potential interest.

It's in excellent condition, no cosmetic issues and plays as good as any bass I've ever owned. Just PM me for pricing and more pics or info. I'll take this to the classifieds in the next couple days if there's no interest here.

They wouldn't be the first. Who is it? Although I am a firm believer that a well-made 34" is just as good as an average 35" B-String.... going much lower than that, like F#, requires BOTH a very special setup and custom strings... and STILL doesn't do the trick. An F#-tuned Dingwall is like a window into a new world. Never knew it could be so good.

I've got mine tuned to G# standard right now and it's pretty brutal. We tune to C# Standard, and I had it tuned to where the C# was the 5th string, but I ordered a set of .142 balance tension strings from Kalium and use the 5th string as a G# now. It holds it pretty well. I've got it tuned to about 35 pounds of tension across all strings as per what Sheldon's said on the Dingwall forums (stated that the Dingwalls do really well around 35 pounds). Normally I aim for 40 pounds. I may go up a size to give it add a little bit more tension. But it's doing fine with being tuned like it is.

I don't feel comfortable posting it here just out of respect for the process not because it is any super secret info or anything. That being said the producer disagrees about the scale length. He said the difference maker is the 38inch low B. He has multiple 35 and 34 scale instruments and he can set up and play bass and guitar vey well. For what he needs, the clarity of the Dingwall when tuned down that low is something he has never experienced, and pretty much all the major acts he has done are in G, F# or A now.

oh no don't misunderstand I agree completely with the engineer.... a 38" scale at these tunings works much better than 34".... I was just saying that a proper bridge, nut and break angle have more to do with a great B-String tuned to B than a difference of 1" in scale length. The Dingwalls have the advantage of being both well made, and extended scale length... which makes them the best tool for these tunings.

I am not saying that a great B string on a 34" scale isn't possible as I've heard some. However, I own both 34" and 35" scale Spectors. No matter the setup, there is a tonal change in dropping the 34" down 2 whole steps that I do (CFBbEb). On my 35" Spector, it keeps that classic Spector tone I want and I can use a little lighter string as well.

GAS hit me hard the first time I saw a Green NG2 (about 2 years ago), and this week I decided I've been working on my 5-string chops long enough to warrant a proper 5-string axe. Today I placed the order from my closest dealer (I live in eastern Switzerland, and the dealer is in Paris...some 600 miles away).

After the wire transfer clears, it's shipped and goes through customs, I'll snag a pic asking for my membership number. Can't wait.

By the way, owners of Green Ferrari Combustion/NG2s, what straps do you have on them?
