Dingwall Combustion NG2

Anyone ever had issues with sharp frets ends in their NG2?

After owning and playing it daily for a couple of weeks, I just realized that what I thought was very dry hands/rough skin is actually small scratches from the pretty sharp edges of the frets. They are all over after the second knuckles of my fretting hand index and pinky fingers.

Been thinking about either taking it to the local luthier, or buying a small fret file and smoothing them up. Anyone has experience filing frets a bit?

He commented during or right before NAMM that they were "behind schedule". No word what that means as to prototype and manufacturing.

... Got me one! Tuned to B, cant wait to get propperly acquainted with her. Pickup is moved and pickguard is changed to remove the obvious Nolly-look. I am though considering buying a 3rd pickup as she was dead gorgeous without the pickguard.

By the way, what action do you guys have on yours? Mine's at 1.6mm (aprox. 4/64"), I was though hoping it would manage the 0.5mm that I've only managed on a Plek'ed ESP Horizon and a Carvin 5'er before :-P

I haven't measured but I did tighten my trussrod a touch and got rid of some of the relief. I'm down in Z-territory.

I've put aside my others for now around the house so that I can really 'bond' with the feel of the new NG, and I've probably done something like 30 hours or a bit more on it at home. I really do like this bass.

I have an order for a P-Tone, one of the new straps, and a set of the stock shop-made knobs floating about somewhere in the world, but in the meantime, i have enough stuff around here to do a quick slightly mismatched change out until they arrive. a handful of the original small diameter knobs on EQ and switch, and a larger version on the Volume will do it for now.

That's not the only thing. I also opened 'er up and did a bit of re-wiring. I was sort of waiting for the P-Tone, but figured it wouldn't be that much of a deal. with out more than unscrewing and re-attaching 4 leads, I now have the patented "Burning Skies reverse 3X switching system".

It's now (back to front):
Neck solo,
Neck-Middle in series
Neck-Bridge in parallel
Bridge solo

I haven't messed around inside of these before, but I see that it comes:
-Neck Pickup in series
-Middle Pickup in parallel
-Bridge Pickup in series.

My new ng2 should be here next week or the week after so I’ll be able to let you know in detail. There’s a dingwall clinic on YouTube where Sheldon referred to the NG2 as his version of a stingray. I’ve been wanting to move from my Warwick thumb 6 string back to 5 string and our guitar player has been wanting to write more and more material in drop A so I wanted something like a stingray but better suited for low tunings. My band is fairly active and I also try to go to as many shows as possible considering I’m in my mid 30s and have a wife and kids. I haven’t heard anyone sound bad with a Dingwall yet. Nolly sounded good at Carolina Rebellion. His tone is a little lacking in low end for my taste but even the cheapest model combustion 5 a local guy here has sounds great through the PA systems.
