Actually, getting a fanned bass at this stage would probably do more harm than good. Hmm. Maybe in another few years.

NG-2 is now relegated to "Very nice, but won't benefit from yet" territory.

EDIT: I'll pencil one in for Christmas 2016 , decision to be reviewed regularly. It can be a "I've got a new job!" present to myself. I need a new job first .

EDIT: No I won't, the options I want are only available on the "starting at £1250" model.

Yeah, sorry about my outburst folks. My GAS kicked me upside the head pretty hard. You know how it is, no reasoned decision making, just a powerful visceral "I WANT ONE!" .

My phone went crazy and I could not finish my post. I was going to say that the fanned fret Ibanez SRFF 805 is about $700 cheaper, but the fan is not as radical at 35.5" instead of 37.5".

I was curious about the orange but glad I preordered the white. The orange is pretty cool, but I was worried I'd grow tired of it or some of the other really bright colors in the NG2 line. I currently don't have a white bass, so obviously that is justification for a new purchase alone!!!

Once you see it in person and holding in your hands, it is really pretty cool. The pictures don't do it justice.

That won't be for a while unfortunately. My PC's getitng a £1200 upgrade in a couple of months and I need to save for that.

So, I am a 4 string player, but use a 35" scale 4 string as my band tunes CFBbEb. I am really intrigued by the fanned frets and what I'm hearing in the clips of the NG-2. My main issue is I don't normally play a 5 string. I'm not sure I want to drop a low B all the way to a low F and when I'd ever use that (who knows maybe I would), but not really yearning for a high string either. I'd love a 4 string version and hear a Combustion 4 is coming out at NAMM. Maybe that with a Darkglass installed would get the Combustion 4 string very close in range to the NG-2.

Why not just tune a 5-string up a half step? CFBbEbAb

I just don't think I really need that high string and would rather stick with a 4 string neck width.

I think the NG2 Dingwall is really cool, but I am not in the market for one. My Peaveys do the modern thing well enough for me already.

I have some string questions guys. I have my preorder in on a white NG2 4 string that I'll use in my band that tunes CFBbEb. My main bass in that band is a 35" scale Spector 4 string, which I string with a LaBella set designed for low tunings (has a .111 E string). I've used these on some 34" scale basses as well, along with a custom set of Blue Steels (.115 low E).

I see Dingwall has their own sets b/c of the variation in string lengths. My concern is my choices will jump from a standard size set up to the lower 4 strings of a 5 string set. One reason I like the longer scale basses is I can stick with that .110 to .115 size set. Do you guys know of any options in this regard?

There's a pretty comprehensive list of what strings will fit on Dingwall basses on the message board, and a good knowledge base that's posted about strings there. That would be the first place to check and see if there's something that works for you.
