Dingwall does not use a proprietary size but their Canadian neck tool is an odd one. The nut comes off and is replaceable on your truss. At least it is one Canadian Dingwalls. I had to swap out the one on my ABZ within the last year, a cheap and easy fix.
They use Hipshot Ultralite HE6C in 3/8's. The Canadians use the same thing but with a special shorter bolt to allow the tuners to be recessed. You can get the latter from Hipshot but I don't think they will fit in a stock Combustion, they have to be recessed.
Just so nobody gets scared by this post: There is no such thing as a "proprietary" size for an hex (allen) wrench. There are standard SAE sizes and standard Metric sizes, and that's it. Some builders use an SAE size, and some use a Metric size. And the size doesn't have to be the same for all the different models made by that builder. The problem is that there are some SAE sizes that are very close to some Metric sizes, so it is extremely easy to use a wrench that "seems to fit" but is slightly too small, and voila, you have a stripped nut in just a few seconds, especially if you have a good quality drop forged wrench, which is likely much harder metal than the nut.
For this reason, I recommend that whenever you get a new bass, you take a post-it note and document ALL of the various wrench sizes for all the different adjustments on the bass, and keep it in the case. I think it's awesome that Dingwall has started doing that (listing the actual wrench sizes) along with their awesome practice of including a nice set of tools. But if you got a bass without the tools, they are not proprietary, they are going to be some mixture of SAE and Metric sizes. So just find out what are the exactly correct sizes for your bass and use only those sizes. It is never worth it to be lazy and use the closest wrong size that fits. Damage is guaranteed to occur.

True indeed. I guess the only thing to add is that the truss rod key/wrench is extended on both sides as the nut is recessed and this extended wrench does make adjustments a lot “cleaner” then using a normal Allen key.
Amp Help!!!
Now that I have a shiny new ABZ, what amp to get? I played some Markbass stuff today and it didn't have that nice clear high-end. I played the Trace Elliot Elf through the 2x8 and it didn't have the heft. Any other suggestions? I did play that new Fender 800 watt Studio combo and that was great! But, I was looking for a separate head and cab. What say you talk bass???

LOL, I have used a QSC K12 and two K-Subs for a bass rig. Awesome!
I'm the last person that can offer advice there since I run modelers (Axe-Fx II or AX8) and IEMs generally (or a QSC K12 when not IEM).

I have some Snap-On T-Handle ball end hex wrenches in the correct sizes. Those work great.
Demeter VTBP M 800 D is my favorite amp. Barefaced cabs are awesome; both the 12” (transparent/flat) and 10” (voiced) versions.
Just an update on the truss rod issue I'm having. I've been in contact with Dingwall and they're sending me a new nut and the matching tool for it. Fingers crossed that will fix the problem! Great customer support
Nope. I'm vocal about some of their oversights when it comes to bass specific models in their gear, but, there is still nothing (not even Helix) that comes close to the ability and tone I get from my Fractal gear

At Hideaway Studios working on one of my new songs for an upcoming DVD.
There are only a couple thousand choices. To narrow it down, can you provide some details about where you will be playing, and at what volumes, and any constraints you have around size, weight, cost, features, or any other considerations?
I recommend a Bergantino B|Amp and 2 HDN112 cabs or HDN112/HDN210 cabs. The ladder is what I played through when I was playing on the Dingwall NG3 that I purchased. I took home the NG3 and HDN112, and I hope to get another cab and B|Amp soon.
BTW I have a MarkBass Traveler 102P that I’m gonna like sell. I love the yellow look of MB cabs, but they only sound OK IMHO.

I have enjoyed Orange, Ampeg and Mesa Boogie tube amps (and matching cabs) with my Dingwalls over the years.
