That definitely looks messed up / stripped to my eye. I have been told that Dingwall uses some kind of proprietary key size or something, which is why regular Alan keys apparently do not work on their stuff. Their basses ship with included Alan keys which I was told to hold on to no matter what :/
Question - I just received my new NG-2, and I absolutely love the Hipshot tuners that came on it. Best I've ever used by a long shot. I was hoping to put a set of those on another bass I am working on, and wondered if anybody can tell me what specific part those are.
Yeah the specific one didn't come with it. I'm wondering if it's a truss rod replacement issue now.
Pretty sure they're just run of the mill Hipshot UltraLite tuners. Come on 3/8" and 1/2" if I recall correctly.
Do you need 4 or five of them? I have a set of four of the Smoked Chrome that came on my NG-2. I switched to black. If you need/want them, just give a shout.

Ooh.. unfortunately I do require 5 of them, and it would be a different configuration than the Dingwall anyway, I would imagine, as I need 4 straight and 1 reverse.
They can be taken apart and flipped from bass side to treble side, and vice versa.
I do realize you need 5, just giving more info.

I am having a pickguard made with Pickguardian right now. Should have it back this week. Will let you know how it turns out.I am just wondering but does anyone have the pickguard template of the Dingwall Combustion 5?

You could try dw pickguards. I haven’t order anything in a while from them but I really liked the quality pickguard I received for a stingray.
Tough Ron say from the photo but you may still be able to get good bite with the appropriate key. If not, as far as I know Dingwall uses single action truss rods on the Chinese basses and that said if you can remove the nut on the end of the rod with a key or an easyout or otherwise... sometimes the right sized flat head screwdriver may work to remove something like that, you could probably just order up a new nut to screw onto the truss rod. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.
Also, the production Chinese basses do NOT come with Allen keys as far as I know. I’ve bought 4. 3 of them were used though. I do know that you used to be able to order a set from Dingwall off the website.
My new NG2s did come with tools. Not the same grade of fancy tools with color-coded heatshrink tubing like the Canadians, but perfectly good quality tools nonetheless. Nice, thoughtful touch.

The NG2 basses are shipped not in cases, unless you add a case to the order. So if you did not get a case, maybe the tools were loose in the box somewhere, dunno. The sticker looks like it came from Saskatoon because it is printed in the same font and style as the document that accompanies the Canadian basses.
Pretty sure that only the US ones can be flipped.
I also have a set of 5 in Chrome from a Combustion if anyone is looking for a set.
Interesting. I thought it was always an add on with them. An inexpensive one mind you. Maybe they have changed that with in the last couple of years.
