Those blue and white Z3's are really nice.

Funny, I can't remember the last time I saw a Z1. Does anyone order them in that configuration anymore?

I almost ordered my fretless in the Z2 config as I’m driven more to the bridge with fretless sounds but I said meh. I might as well get that third pick up even if it’s just used as a thumb rest. Lol. I’m sure it won’t be.

I think most people just think meh. Might as well go 3x.

I think I would go 3x on everything moving forward except on a jazz. Only because I built my jazz to be a jazz not a can do anything bass and don’t regret it. It’s light and it’s tone is simply perfect for the job. Not to mention like some folks have stated here about the simplicity of the P there is just less to mess with.
That’s just me though. For a person that uses a jazz exclusively due to scale length or preferred body design etc. then I understand going the full on 3x route.

Anyone who hasn't checked out the Invalid Link Removed lately might want to check it out. Lots of new tops.
I had forgot about that page. If I were choosing a top, it would either be the second row, middle (maple burl 1502) or fourth row, far right (curly redwood 1157). Tragically, I have too many basses now so not in the market for another custom. :)

So much quilted maple! Is there a place that sells quality pick-guard material? I’d be into rolling a few options for my Super P.

The problem with super high gloss black, every slight scratch and swirl shows up. The finish on the bass is perfect, but the pickguard is not keeping up.

I’m thinking black or white pearloid. Or maybe a few other ideas.

Amazon has a whole bunch of blanks, everything from plain white to clown-barf. I've bought some before they are decent enough quaility.

Those Macasscar Ebonies look good too. Also the Spaulted Chestnut! Chestnut Afterburner - ya gotta like Christmas for that combo. :roflmao:

Does anyone know where I can pickup a pair of FDV pickups (4 string, rounded shell)? I’ll contact DW this week but was wondering if someone had a pair they’d like to sell or have a line on a dealer that has them in the US. Thanks.
I have a set of three FDV pickups with slightly scratched shells available. I removed them from my D-Bird when I bought it because I wanted it to look brand new again. Nothing wrong with them, they work great. Just cosmetic imperfections that annoyed my OCD self.
