Dingwall Owners Club

For those of you longtime players with the same/similar bass, where do you put your thumb while playing on the B string?
My thumb always just ends up in the air when playing the bottom string, and then transitions to sliding over the top of the strings as I move up to the smaller ones. I think I started playing that way after having had a P-bass pickup cover that I would slide my thumb along and when the cover disappeared after selling that bass, the habit stayed, minus the place to rest my thumb. Not sure if that's any help at all, but that's what I do.

This is what I tend to do as well, although if a pup happens to be there, it might slide onto the top of it, but only lightly.

Hey, guys.

Anyone got a Tonestyler sitting in their parts bin?

I’d like to borrow one for a week or three to experiment with. Too broke to lash out that much moolah without testing one first...
I used to have one installed in my P-Bass; it works well, but I was fine with a standard tone control on that bass.

On my Z2, I have a buffered preamp with a passive tone pot and I keep it roughly 50% backed-off so that the bass doesn't sound too bright.

A Tone-Styler (or a multi-detent potentiometer) would be nice on that tone pot.

I just realized that I have been on talkbass for over 13 years. 4814 days to be exact. How did so many days go by? I would be one helluva bass player had I practiced an hour every one of those days! Anyway, I don't know what made me stop and realize that, but it is freaking me out a little. Time flies when you're playing bass.

Or at the very least Talkin about it!!!
I wish I had got addicted to TB that long ago. I think I would be a better player by association by now. Lol
