That's a great idea for a no screws mount, but the exposed parts of the bass will change color over time, especially if you use it outside or a smoky club.

long story short: I was once again saving up for a Fodera... came across a 1991 Wal MK2 & pulled the trigger... had enough left over for a SUPER J...

It's freaking awesome!

Definitely one of the nicest looking Super J's I've ever seen. Hmmm, wondering what a red version just like that would look like? :eek:

Question for you Super J owners. Do these really cop a vintage J vibe, or are these more of a "J 'ish" Dignwall tone?

If all Dingwall's are even 90% as awesome... And I suspect they are... Sheldon is my new hero!

I admit I'm still in the honeymoon stage, but the build quality, playability & tone are second to none!

The Stormy Monday blueburst is spectacular in person - I imagine it could be even better on some figured maple...

Although the Super J is capable of copping a J bass sound - it's so much more... my Fenders are mere mortals in comparison.

I snapped a few with my camera and in the sunlight. I am still leaning toward the pickguard and I plan to try to locate some thin 2-sided tape today so I can keep from drilling holes.

Edit: Pay no attention to the dead grass. We've been in a serious drought around here so all of the greenery has suffered.

My SJ5 just made the conversion to a PJ and I am liking it a lot. While I did end up sacrificing what I consider to be the best slap tone ever (I don't slap much at all), I did gain the P-Tone, which I love. I also have a tort guard too, but white is looking pretty classy.

I played one of those tangerine Combustions and it was nice. The neck was a bit thicker back to front than the previous run. I think the unique coloured special run basses are going to have the matching headstocks. Unfortunately, the candy apple green ones in the first run didn't get them. The only other ones that did were the matte black.

I actually like the tangerine with the white pearloid pickguard.

I love that trans blue SJ5. That would be one of the colours on the top of my list.

man screw that pick guard down! the combustions look bada$$ with pick guards. I think i draws attention to and not from the orange, and gives it a more highend look.
