You’re not alone.

I don’t use them live. I do have a few I plan to use on certain songs I am trying to record. But the freakin project got put on hold until November. But for live, just too much trouble (for me).

You are not alone! I do have a Darkglass Vintage Microtubes I like to use sometimes, but even that is not heavy distortion. Just some nice drive when I’m in the mood.

BTW, the VMT pairs really nicely. It sort of just emphasizes the Dingwall tone. More of a good thing is always gooder!!

Some of those pedals are cool but I don’t even like to use compression, except when recording of course.

I have a comp pedal (a Diamond??) somewhere but I haven’t used it in a couple years. At some point I’m going to find it and mess with it just for grins.

I'm a recent convert - actually. I've been using distortion for quite a while now, and I think I'm over it. Since my new Monique arrived I've been playing without any OD/distortion and I'm really digging it - my bandmates have also been a fan.

I'm not 100% sure, but I'm even at the point where I think I'm going to offload my remaining dirt pedals in the classifieds. I don't know if I can go back!

No way dude. I’m with ya. I try clicking the button on my AOU. once in a while but that lasts about 1 min or less

With a healthy dose of phaser, flanger, chorus, envelope, and reverb added in there for good measure.

So while I do sometimes, the modern ultra-jazz nature of the Dingwalls is just fine on its own, too.

While not liking it live, I do have a song in my head that I am trying to get out. And it definitely has an alpha omega plus a bass IQ in it. The problem is this song is SO clear in my head when I am driving but escapes me when I sit down.

I'm with you, too. Whenever I see a video of a beautiful new Dingwall bass, I mute the sound before I play it, then I gradually raise the volume. If it doesn't sound like a major traffic accident, I am pleasantly surprised.

I guess I don't consider myself 'special' enough for effects. Random occasional collision of fingernail and string is about it for me. My signal path: Dingwall > HPF > Reeves > MAS 110 Bodai x 2. I like it clean and clear.
