Ha. You won’t. End of November my schedule opens up and I hope between then and January to get 4 straps completed. That will include the both of you.

It’s crazy how time vanishes AND with these beauty Dingwalls in my presence and a strong desire to learn music and grow as a bass player it’s super hard to take time away from that.

I’m sorry guys..... my motto right now is slow and steady..... or at least just slow.....

This one is fun! It's a little out of date though - the blue quilted top Z2 is now a brown quilted top Super J plus a sunburst Super P. Time to schedule another family portrait shoot, and decide who gets left out of the pic since there are only 8 hangers. The wild Lambo orange one, I suppose...

I’ve been playing just the SJ for the last 3 days while my Z 6 is hanging on the wall staring at me.

Funny thing is it started after playing an American standard Jazz at l and m. Strung with some crazy slinky flubby strings.

It had such a different vibe compared to a normal rig of mine that I almost impulsively brought it home. The B was horrendous. But it had this mellow smoky jazz bar mojo to it. Then just before leaving I played a modern player with some different strings on it. Completely different bass.... which reinforced that the “mood” I was appreciating on the other jazz was mostly from the strings.

I went home and, although my J is of course brighter, I grabbed my J and was completely satisfied. I could change the strings if I wanted to but meh.

It’s funny thought how that basses mojo put me in a different mood.

I guess the point being is that I love my SJ. and I forget it from time to time as I get consumed with my longer scales but then I come back to it and I know that if I ever get rid of it it will be a grave mistake. I like to think of it as my retirement bass. It’s light and easy to play in comparison to the rest.

Of course I play a Z and then feel the same freakin way.....

You could always just ship that poor, lonely Z6 to Buffalo. Just a suggestion.

If you are lucky enough to get a strap from Nathan, you are blessed. Mine is amazing, worth more than most of my basses! Hate to admit it, but I get more compliments on it than my playing.

Thanks guys. I really appreciate the support. It still is very enjoyable and exciting to be making these things. My most productive season is just around the corner which I am eagerly anticipating.

Just got sneak preview final mixes of the tracks I've been working on. The bass is not buried in the mix, and that gave me a little tear in the eye. They reamped my 'cleans' (Dingwall > Pigtronix Micro Bass Comp > Southampton Fifth Gear) through a Super Symmetry and B7K and it sounds killer. Really excited to share with the group once the release is out!
