Dingwall Owners Club

On another note, I notice that the body for your Z3 has the outline of an Afterburner body shape? Something new going on there that I haven't kept up with?

I hope not. Barry had me pick out my top wood off of the stock online. Sheldon didn't mention that it wouldn't work when he sent my invoice and that piece of wood is no longer available So I hope it works out... But now you have me worried!

Hrrrrm. Don't stress out about it yet, but do contact the shop and see what's up. It could be a different body with very similar top wood (often they have a number from the same 'block' and they have the same or similar patterns.

Here's what I'm talking about:

The top and back on my Dingwall are from the same log and VERY similar, I've also seen one other bass that was likely from the same log as well. I'm guessing the shop gets some wood in large enough pieces to make more than a single top/back.

Very true. When I ordered my Zebra/Voodoo bass, I looked through a series of tops from the 'same piece' They were sequentially very similar. In fact, the first top I picked wasn't the one that ended up on my bass...and the one I have is just as beautiful.

Hey there everyone that I'm extremely envious of. I'm desperately seeking a 4 string dingwall of any variety (if I had a choice I'd pick something in blue haha) willing to buy or trade for either a Tobias Growler 4 or Rikkers Bodyline 4

Try posting over at the Dingwall forum. Unfortunately 4 string Dingwalls are not that common (most people buy Dingwalls for their amazing B string) and even more uncommon is a Dingwall owner wanting to trade for something other than another Dingwall.

I think your best bet will be to sell your Tobias or Rikker and then buy a used/new Dingwall.

As Domestique says, the AB 4 strings aren't all that plentiful...but don't give up, keep looking and you'll see they do come up. Do sign up on the Dingwall Message Board and keep active there, you'll never know what will show up.

My Z3. Forgive the amateur photography skills, but I've had this since October and I can honestly say I've never been happier with a bass.

Beautiful Z, MooreBass! Very nice. :) I got my Voodoo/Zebra in October (2008) and haven't put it down since! That new bass feel doesn't wear off, and I've even started wearing through the finish on the back of the neck!

There's actually two 4s up on evilbay right now  the "voodoo/zebra" on is one I swear I've seen here on tb. I think the owner had an exotic super j fiver in green and a blue six string as well...? If he's on tb I'd much prefer that to the bay :p

I know the guy in real life who owns the instruments. I've never seen him play the 4 before, but he is a pretty good dude. The price is a little high for me.

Dingwalls seem to pop up here a lot... maybe because we're 2 hours drive away from Sheldon's shop.

2 hours...that would do it. :)

If I wasn't so happy with the ones I have, I'd be all over having more, especially one of the new Super P's...

There might be more Super J's available in 4 strings (probably higher percentage of Super J's were 4 strings) except they probably don't have much of a turnover.
