You really need to find distro in the 'north of DC' area. Lots of people packed into this corner of the country, and some expendable wealth. NY/NJ/MA/CT/RI would be good coverage.

Southern NJ here...third or whatever, if you ever end up this way (especially Philly, Atlantic City...I don't get into NYC much...) would enjoy meeting the big D!
There's not much of a Dingwall presence in New York City. What with all the Fodera, Pensa, and Sadowsky buyers around here, you'd think that this'd be a great place for a killer modern bass company to have a dealer or two.
OMG... I have an online subscription to Premiere Guitar, and they are uploading photos from NAMM. Including one of the new Dingwall Super P!! Sorry, can't link the photo here while using the iPad...hopefully someone else will. Lovely, lovely beast you have there, Sheldon!
That bass is on Dingwall's home page. I asked a friend to check it out at NAMM for me and he said it was absolutley stunning. I want one!! I talked to Barry Lamb about it yesterday and the first run of 4 strings will have the same neck as the Super J til this model takes off, then will go to a P neck later on.

Meanwhile, on the western side of the US, I'm looking forward to meeting everyone who'll make it down for the meet! Should be a relaxed time to chat about gear and beer. At least it will if you know the OTHER reason to make the trek to SD

Awesome time meeting Sheldon at Bass San Diego tonight. Thanks to the guys for making it happen.
For those who haven't had the pleasure, Sheldon is a genuinely nice guy to talk to. He talked about how Dingwall owners as a group are just a nice group of people, but it seemed to me that culture started at the top. Some local owners brought their basses. One guy brought in a Z1 and an AB1, both bought used, and both had issues. Sheldon could have just let the guys at the shop fix it but instead he broke out the soldering iron and fixed the out of phase pickup himself on the spot, and then started on the truss rod.
The Super P was as cool as advertised. Notably thinner and lighter than a Fender P, with a very nice neck.

+1 I am honored not only to play Sheldon's basses, but to count him as a friend, as well. He's definitely one of the coolest, nicest, most talented people you are likely to meet.
I'm also pumped that he is one of the luthiers who agreed to participate in a new on-going feature for Bass Gear Magazine called the Luthiers' Round Table. This group of top flight builders are going to discuss a variety of topics related to making basses in a "round table" style format (mostly via electronic communication). We had the kick-off meeting last Wednesday, which was co-sponsored by Dan Lenard and Luthier's Access Group. Here's a link to the brief video we shot from that night:

I had originally intended to do more, but the location was not conducive to good video. Of note, the actual panel of luthiers participating in the on-going BGM articles will include Roger Sadowsky and Michael Tobias, who were not able to make this event.
My sincere thanks once again to Dan and all the luthiers who have agreed to participate! This should be a fun panel, and I'd welcome suggestions from our readers for topics they'd like to see discussed.

they play so nice and easy. i have handed my bass over to guys who mostly play guitar, and they adapt to the fan-frets without even thinking about it much. before long, they are up and running without issues.
