I guess I emphasize well profiled as some I tried definitely do not fit the bill. But the well profiled stuff is unreal, can't tell the difference at all.

Putting my AX8 and Axe-Fx II up against a real 1969 SVT and a 2008-ish SVT-CL, they are truly spot on. If I put it through a poweramp and into an 8x10, it's indistinguishable. If I run to my little QSC K12 for personal monitoring, it is an extremely pleasant experience, but obviously different than an 8x10. IEMs, again, sound so much the same as the "real" SVT, that I have had no issue or regrets selling both of those SVTs. The guitarists I work with basically have the same exact thoughts - and these are guys that play Marshalls, Mesas, Matchless, 5150's and so on.

Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on your perspective, this is a very lucrative gig, so quitting isn't a viable option. Firing the guitar player makes WAY more sense, LOL! The thing that kills me is that he's got an Ampli-Firebox ON HIS BOARD! I'm not really sure what he uses it for. I just need to think of a way to force him into trying amp-less...

I'm thinking if/when I go this route, I'll probably try a Backbeat. It's supposed to be pretty legit in giving that "feel".

And, on cue, Kemper releases a floor version of their Profiler! Kemper and Line 6 are, obviously, WAY more bass-friendly than Fractal. I looked at Kemper's model list and there's a boatload of bass amp models! Granted, a lot of them are variations of the same thing, but at least they've tried to make it usable for bass. I could also see getting another Helix. Atomic Amps was, allegedly, working on a bass version of the Ampli-Firebox called the Bass Box. They showed a prototype, albeit a non-working one, at winter NAMM. Haven't heard a thing about it since. I even hit them up about a month ago and got no response.

So, it looks like Kemper or Neural DSP's Parallax, which requires a laptop or a Surface...

Good to hear! I should edit my original post with "for me." That said I haven't tried the AX8, it it looks like a really impressive unit.
