Dingwall Owners Club

I don't know, this thing is a beast

It may just be my example but it's got ton of color to the tone.
Looks better in person, more brown toned.

What say you guys about this.

I’m not too sure myself but at the same time I think it looks bad ass.

Padalka basses look pretty nice. The newer body style looks good. The color choices are often stunning. It was certainly in my want list, but it’s a lot of coin for a bass that you can’t play before you buy. Luckily, I was able to try a D-Bird and buy one, so I’m not too saddened by not grabbing another bass ;)

Figured I'd update the group with some "before and after" shots of the AB2 prototype that I picked up a little over a year ago - my first Dingwall, and now 1 of 4 in my arsenal!

Pic I took on the drive home from buying it, wasn't in great shape but I knew I had something beautiful all the same

After cleaning it as best I could and jamming a bit I wanted to properly set it up in G# standard to play it with my band, but when I tried to adjust the intonation the saddles wouldn't move. Turns out the whole bridge was rusted from years of sweat. At that point I acquired a Dingwall AB1 to use with my band and commenced taking apart the AB2... (warning: gore)

The folks at Dingwall hooked me up with a new bridge, and I got to work on removing the grime.

My original plan was to refinish it myself, however sanity prevailed and it was brought to a local tech to complete the finer sanding and matte oil refinish.

I did the same thing (bought a used Sklar in a different color to save money). So what would be your first choice color? This is mine:

I’m super fickle about this but blue, purple and orange and maybe even dark green ahead of red, but it’s still a lovely bass. Maybe I’ll get a new 3x Sklar II sometime.

My plan was to visit bassdirect next time I’m in London to try out a Sklar in person but they just sold their last one.

Looks awesome!!! I assume that was Riq’s bass. If so, I’ve seen it many times. When he listed it, I was just starting to look at Dingwalls and didn’t know what I wanted yet. This one was in pretty bad shape with most screws rusted so I passed. Congrats on seeing the diamond in the rough and great job on the restore. Enjoy it!

This is looking great!
I almost bought that one myself so I remember exactly how it looked when you picked it up.
Glad to see it’s been restored nicely and is in great shape again.

It's a great bass. If I didn't already have all my bass needs covered and I was looking to get into 5 string fanned frets, this is probably what I would have.
Yeah, if I had to chose one mono bass I have, this would be it, I would love to get the FF version of it, but the new one is trash IMHO, they changed the body size, increased the thickness of the neck, increased the size of the heel and put really nasty pau ferro on it.
Finding the original MS-SE is impossible.
