I love the Circle K's! I have them on my ABII and my Dolphin Pro 1. I have no desire to play any other strings!

Congrats on scoring this one!! I swooned over that bass for months while it sat on the classifieds, wishing I could get the cabbage together.

Love that Bubinga sapwood. It truly is sick. Sheldon is an artist!

Interesting development today. I've never been required to do so before, but I was notified by FedEx that I had to fill out one of these in order to get this deadly sonic weapon across the border:

Yeah, the value of the shipment was one of the ideas that occurred to me. The rules have definitely changed since I received my SJ-4 direct from Saskatoon five years ago (no DHS form required at that time). It tickled my funny-bone to require this for a bass, though! :)

Man that's over intrusive IMHO. I was looking at the form to see if it's an illegal wood issue, but apparently it's not.

Asking for your SS# to receive a bass is unfathomable.

Spirit, are you receiving the bass directly from the Dingwall factory? Or is this form being generated as it comes from a US dealer?

New stuff required for customs, Lacey, security, and CT-PAT. Homeland changed a lot of stuff over the last couple of years. First and foremost with this form, they want to make sure no one's dodging out on paying the customs duties and tariffs associated with the importation of the musical instrument.

Blues Cat - as there are no dealers in a hundred-mile radius, I have the pleasure of dealing directly with Sir Lamb. So yes, it came directly from the shop. I thought it was funny. DHS finally became aware of the power of the Dingwall B-string? :D I assume that the value of the shipment 'triggered' the request. No biggie to me. I regurgitate my SSN to Uncle Sam every year at tax time. Basically, I confirmed it and my physical adress.

Another pleasant surprise - this beauty left the shop Wednesday and arrived today. While checking the specs on the back of the instruction booklet, I noted that Sheldon calls this finish "Stormy Monday". It weighs a whole eight pounds and five ounces (yay for chambering!).

I so wish I was a member of this club. I spent some time this morning with Invalid Link Removed (check out the stock list) and my life has been ruined. :D

I made the mistake, if you can call it that, of not starting at the bottom. I played the red Combustion II and enjoyed it, but wasn't completely blown away - that had already been achieved by the blackburst ABZ5. I loved the simplicity of the design, the clean colours and simple elctronics, with the most even tone I've ever experienced from any bass or guitar. The B string sounded fantastic way past the 12th fret and thunderous at the low end. The weird thing is how they didn't feel weird. The fanned frets took no adjustment at all.

I also tried the used Walnut ABII - a truly beautiful instrument, but the ABZ had already captured my heart. I'm in love. I think it's time to sell the kids... :)

Mark's place will do that to you! I did a similar thing a year ago and ended up walking out with a natural ABZ5 and a great Genz Benz rig! It's an awesome instrument, with a great sound and is wonderfully playable.

Worst thing for me is that BassDirect is only 15 minutes from home, and I keep getting tempted back there! He's also a top bloke, who knows his stuff and doesn't push you into buying gear you don't need.

By the way, if the Walnut ABII you're referring to is this one Invalid Link Removed , hands off! It's just one lottery win away from being mine! ;-)

True torture!!! ;) I noticed that their Tangerine Super J/P-4 has a chambered body. I wonder when he started doing that? The Chrome Blue Sklar looks killer!
