Can you spot the horse head? ;-) I call it the 'Ghost Rider' bass because of that and the creepy face on the upper bout.

Thanks, me too. I paid a little extra for the privilege of being able to select the actual board they used and it was worth every penny! I asked them to include a little sapwood and they did.

It's an AB1-4 with a buckeye burl x-top, ziricote fingerboard, Darkglass TC and the 'blackout' option, which includes Luminlay position markers (I got blue). Colour is green to transparent burst. Woods are standard (alder body, I think?), with a maple neck.

Quick question - on a 3-pickup combustion 5 (with the D-Bird switch if that matters), are all pickups set to parallel as I seem to remember or are some wired in series? I know the bridge pickup is wired in series in the 2-pickup models but I'm not sure otherwise. This is all to plan for a 6-way switch...

Took my new D-Bird Standard to band practice on Monday. It sounds great through my rig (Mesa Subway D800 & Eden 410 XLT)! Sits very well in the mix. A few things I noticed:

- There is quite a difference in output between the different pickup switch positions. I like the full all-three-pickups tone, but it is significantly louder than the others.

- That big block of pickups makes playing awkward for my right hand. I am used to play fingerstyle in between pickups, and now floating right on top of them feels weird. I lowered the action significantly after I received it, so I should probably lower the pickups a little, too. Maybe that will help.

I'll keep messing with it, maybe I'll just get used to it. My Stingray Special felt awkward at first, too, and now it's one of my favorite basses.

be careful not to confuse series/parallel of the coils inside each pickup with how the pickups are wired together in combinations.

I’ve not encountered a 3x with different wiring between pickups but you can open the electronics cavity and see for yourself if of white/red/green/black the same pair comes out as output and the same two are wired together. That defines serial/parallel inside the pickup shell and is unrelated to what the dbird switch does.

I had a similar problem in terms of output with all 3, try lowering the neck pickup a bit more than the other 2, seems to lower the output a fair amount and let a little bit less low end thru, i found this fix to feel awkward under the fingers (i like to use the 3 pickups as a ramp to double-thumb/play off of) but id still recommend trying it

I have a 3 pickup 4 string Combustion and all the pickups are internally in series.

The combinations are all from 3X / Dbird ones, and no not yet. I ran in significant job pressure and the switch is sitting folornly next to my soldering iron waiting for me to have time.

In my 3X upgrade pack for the NG2, the installation diagram specifically told you to wire each pickup the same. I was unaware that any dingwalls weren't like that.

I just pulled the cavity cover off my newish 2-pickup AB2, and both pickups are wired the same. red and white to the switch, and green and black soldered together, which I believe is series.

Hey y'all...I have an email in to Dingwall Tech, but I know they're busy and all...

The truss-rod nut on my NG-3 (early 2018) has gotten decently beat up. Anyone know what size/type of replacement nut it takes?

It's most likely from on the fly quick adjustments in different settings, and I can certainly pull the neck off and make it work but I'd rather replace now before it's an issue.
