I dunno, 26 months is past my limit to wait for a Bass. And I really want a Super 5 spec’d to my liking, so I don’t say that lightly.
A lot can (and does) happen in 26 months.
Yeah, I'd never be able to wait that long. I know the phrase goes "Good things come to those who wait", but in my experience, a longer wait can also have the effect of disappointment. Over that time, you'll end up building up so much hype and excitement, that you'll inadvertently become disappointed with whatever you were waiting for.

IMO, YMMV etc. :) I've only ever ordered one custom bass, but that was a mostly positive experience. I waited about a year for it.

Well, my wait was over as of yesterday.

and I couldn’t be more thrilled. Sheldon and team made exactly the bass I requested. There was a small hiccup a few months back and still delivered an amazing machine in a super fast turnaround.

Yesterday’s NBD!

I’m in love!!

On top of it all.
Under 10lbs for a 6er!

Did you get a quote with a serial number back then?
Nope. Haven't gotten one either this time.
I asked to change the neck profile back to a regular Super P neck, because I ordered it with a J-neck, but i doubt something like that would push back the bass 1 1/2 years, haha.

Maybe it'll come sooner. Who knows.

Congratulations on the new bass, btw! :)

Thanks Ivan,

honestly, you should have a serial number is my understanding. That serial number confirms your place in line. It can get shuffled as changes are applied but....

Doubt it. They sent me an email in September with an ETA of March 2020. Something else must have happened

Dude! I’d touch bass with your dealer and reconfirm that timeline. They quoted you an ETA for a domestic Dingwall as 12 months? That seems a little short, and the new ETA seems super excessive. Even if you’d completely change all the specs, it shouldn’t take that long. MAYBE, if all the tooling to make Super P’s was destroyed and Sheldon had to get all new stuff to make ‘em, that MIGHT get you to that ETA...

I’d almost be willing to bet that they were telling you it’s gonna be 18 months, not the 12 months they originally quoted you. So, instead of March 2020, you’re probably looking at September 2020. Either way, I’d be reaching out to some folks to see whassup...

On a happier note, Nate’s Z looks Ah-MAZING, and I should be within 2-4 weeks of seeing a couple of my new freshy’s!!! Fingers, and toes, crossed

Nate is absolutely right. I got serial numbers almost immediately after I sent my deposit and confirmed a few specs(some of which I changed up until a couple of months ago, which did add some delay, but only a couple of weeks). If your order was officially placed, there’s a serial number in the queue(<— is that how you spell that? Lol!).

Just sent dingwall sales an email. I'll report back once there's some more info :)

Thanks for the feedback, everyone!

News: it was 18 months total, not extra. Sheldon himself clarified the issue and there is a serial number :)
Still a bit of a bummer considering that I have a tour right around the initial ETA, but waaaaaaay better than 1 1/2 years extra wait time :D

Today is a good day
