Thanks Pal. This is the first fiver I’ve had that actually feels totally natural in my hands (I’m a 4 banger at heart and have been forever).
I’ve tried a bunch of high end fivers and always had one issue or another getting on with them. The Z3 that I had was really close but I just couldn’t get around the long scale with my beat up mitts.
I’ve been searching for a good Super fiver and I’m pretty stoked right now.


Off to make some noise.

Received my Payson flats in the mail. New strings and set up for the AB-1 this weekend.

I can roll with either scale length, especially now that they are four strings with 19mm spacing.

It was always the change in string spacing that would trip me up.

Anybody have any idea how many dbirds made it into the wild before the “cease and desist”? Could they be the new collectible “lawsuit” bass? Anybody got one they want to sell? (I was slow to move on the last couple in the classifieds)

I have two aquamarine D-Birds, and I'm keeping them! It'd be cool to know how many total were made - I can't imagine it's a very big number. My guesstimate would be a hundred or so?

You know, I don’t even think that I’ve had DW strings in this one since I got it from @SickAura. The last set I put on was NYXL’s 45-100 which I was pretty happy with and I’m not sure what was on it before.

the thought just came to me that the SP5 (my 4th DW) is my first new DW. Maybe it’s time to jump in the Queue for a SJ3X as well.
