Gave them a listen, both sound great. I think the Dingwall will be more comfortable and; of course, lighter and more versatile. While neither sound, IMO, like my '76 Tbird did, both are closer to my Lull Thunderbird 5. If I had to choose, I would probably go with the Dingwall; but for 1/2 the price, an Epiphone Vintage Pro probably sounds more like a vintage Tbird. Personally, I'm not a fan of 1 1/2" fret width, so I'm doing a project bass, basically a FSO with Tbird electronics and a 1 5/8" neck. I don't need the Dingwall versatility since it's a Hard Rock band, and since it will be a backup bass, the $ will be easier to justify.

NG3 Darkglass Special Edition in transit from Calgary to Ottawa. It should complement my SJ5 pretty well, at least until I can score a Z3. Might look for a SP5 w/wenge in the meantime. I absolutely love the blueberry SP on the website. :D

Truth is I'm not a big fan of the NG colors and the silver was the least offensive to me. I'm debating having it refinished in a different color. I'll wait until I form an opinion on how much I like it. If it's definitely a keeper, I may go ahead and have it refinished, change the pickguard and get black bridge, tuners and control knobs.

The color was quite a bit more metallic and interesting in-person than I expected. In pictures I thought it was going to be fairly "flat" but it had quite a bit of life and interest to it. You might be surprised when it arrives depending on your tastes.

Welcome to the club with the DG NG3 :D. I adore mine!
The finish not only looks great in person, but feels awesome as well. I would be surprised if you still wanted to change it once you got it in hand :). It also takes to photos pretty well, too.
