Well, it’s happened. After getting used to my Dingwall, all of my other basses feel anemic intone and heavy on my shoulders. Now what? I know, I know... More Dingwalls! I can’t get enough of playing this thing.
Well.
I got to place an order today. Not a Dingwall -- I'm already in queue for my next Z. However, and I'm going to be intentionally vague here, I did get to purchase things that will get put into my Dingwall, that will make it a one-of-a-kind. I'm SO excited, and I have at least 18 more months of waiting.

These new Dingwall gig bags are great. I wonder though, what is the purpose of the big flap over the large front pocket? Thoughts?
Riding blanket? Would go nicely with my johdpurs.
Loving my Afterburner I with the Payson flatwound strings! The bass was always a little weak for that "modern" vibe and a bit mid-rangey. This setup unlocks a whole new, more Jazz-friendly personality. Even with flats, the B string still absolutely kills. 
Perhaps to keep miscreants and ne'er-do-wells out of that large front pocket?
Honestly, I have no idea, but it's ever-so-slightly inconvenient. Still love the bag tho...
Last night with my NG2. Love the bass.
i was playing in a thrash/ death type project and we were tuned down a step to A standard on a 5 string.
I went into the local shop that had a pretty killer selection of bass stuff at the time. My friend that worked there said I should try “this” bass..... honestly at that point I wasn’t much of a gear junkie. He handed me my first AB2.
Dropped the tuning down to A standard and gave it some thumps...... it simply sounded better then any other bass I had played.
That’s 1. Down tuned like a champ. With factory dingwall strings.
2. it played soooooo smooth. I instantly felt like a better player. The neck felt natural and amazing compared to any other bass.
3. tone. Similar to 1 but 1 is specifically about the down tuning ability and how it maintains killer sound quality. 3. is about the inherent properties and the sound that this piece of art projected. The glockenklang 2 band installed to accompany the FD3s in the walnut body with walnut neck and wenge board was genius.
4. It was beautiful. One of the most beautiful basses I had seen. I had fallen in love with everything about it...... despite the price. I sold my soul. I could not not have it.
5. It inspired me..... in a way no other bass had. It opened a door for me like no other. This is something that perhaps I should have dug deeper to find it on my own and not relied on a tool to do so but it is what it is and I’m grateful that is what happened.
6. Made in Canada. Handmade, 5 hrs away from me. If I was to pay top dollar for an instrument I found comfort in knowing it was handcrafted to perfection by a small shop(at the time) and to the most stringent of standards and this was all within driving distance from me.
I’ve explored many options other then dingwall since and possibly will continue to do so depending on my financial freedoms but it’s more so out of bucket list curiosity. They come and go and I’ve pretty much reached my dingwall Apex now... basses beyond my abilities but basses that I can safely say I want none more then the ones I have.

Long time ago I was drooling on the Matte Black and I wanted to put black coated strings on it.
Congrats! That's awesome! My father-in-law is a Purdue grad and my nephew is a freshman there. My band plays at Ace's Pub in W. Lafayette about every 7 or 8 weeks.
