Soo, interested in selling it? What preamps do you have in the basses? I found my AB2 to have a very different (and appealing) voice to my other Dingwalls, but still working on getting its neck problems sorted.

I do wish more bass companies had a truss rod adjustment like Music Man. They have a little wheel at the neck joint. Minor complaint I have but it’s about EVERY bass pretty much.
Back to the playability... boy it’s nice. So light. My other basses are so heavy.

Big difference...
NO neck heal on the ABZ while on the Combustion you hit the heal.
The neck is multi-radius on the ABZ. Playing down by the nut is more comfortable and by the bridge there strings are flat even with the pickups which not only makes plucking more consistent but equal height from the pickups for more level tone.
Besides that there are a bunch of different options available on the Afterburner basses... None on the NG / Combustions besides Fingerboard on the Combustions. Numerous electronics options on the Afterburner. Luminlay Inlays, Blacked out Necks, Wenge Necks, Unique inlays etc...

Love that bass! My first Canadian Dingwall was a passive Whalepool Blue ABZ5 with a maple neck & board. Brings back some great memories! Enjoy it, my friend!
What do you want to know? I am currently playing an ABZ 5/3 and an NG-3...
Feel: This is weird, the ABZ is lighter, but it feels more "solid". The NG-3 is a great feeling bass, but it's a bit chunkier weight-wise and in neck feel. I prefer the body shape of the ABZ, but upper fret access is still killer on the NG-3.
Visual: The ABZ is more aesthetically pleasing(I prefer no pick guard, so that's a no-brainer for me). Having said that, the body shape of the NG/Combustion is actually more similar to the Z body shape, and Z's are gorgeous. I really dig the Combustion/NGs I've seen with no pick guards.
Sound: The important one. The ABZ & the NGs are going to cover a lot of the same ground, tonally. Having said that there's a nuance to the FDVs that the ABZ carries that the FD-3n's that the NG carries don't have. There a sweetness to the whole frequency spectrum that you get with the ABZ, it's just refined aggression. The NG is a bit more raw and a bit more top end. They'll both scream at you, but the ABZ is so pretty you'll think it's sexy. When the NG yells at you, you may soil yourself. Although I'm more of a "pickups and electronics play way more of a role in how a bass sounds rather than the wood it's made of" kinda player, the Alder, the Maple, and the FD-3n's make the NG a bit more raw.
The NG's are fantastic basses. I love mine. Having said that, if you play an ABZ(or any Canadian Dingwall), you'll hear/feel/see that "thing" that'll make you go "There it is..."
That's my perspective...
This is a fairly tough comparison unless the ABZ is spec'd similarly to the NG/Combustion.
-I think as the ABZ is light weight Ash and an NG is alder you can expect a slight weight difference.
-The finish on the ABZ I think plays significantly into a tonal difference in comparison to the harder finishes.
-Electronics. FDVs in ABZ vs FD3ns in Combustions
-neck/fretboard woods?
-unless you prefer a beefier neck generally speaking the ergos on an ABZ are better...albeit slightly.
from My experience the NGs are the most ballsiest aggressive dingwall out there... More so then perhaps any Canadian made I've played....but with that I have not played a Canadian model with the exact same spec.....
Tough comparison
Wenge neck or fretboard adds some natural compression, taming things a bit. fretboards other then maple seem to soften the snap. body woods.... more variables

Things were a bit weird at first, but they got back on track again today. I'm hoping to have a properly playing AB2 in my future.
