To my ear, the bass response of the DGTC is overpowering. Backing off that bass knob really opens things up. I'm not playing down-tuned metal either (praise music).
I think you're right and this may help. It's also my first 18v system and is a lot hotter than everything else I have. I'll try dropping the bass down.

give the dark glass a chance. I’m a metal head in a jazz/Latin fusion gig and have learned to really explore it. try rolling the Highs right down. There is tons of room to explore the low mids especially in combination with the lows. I find the lows will float between 3-8 but the low mids are all about specific desired flavour. The high miss can still be bright at 0. Depended on the rest of your gear too for obvious reasons.
Yes - that'a been my biggest struggle (the high mids). I don't know if it's the taper of the pot but they seem to go from not enough to really cutting fast and I'm always balancing on this knife edge with the high mids.
It's really an incredible instrument though and I'm sure I'll get the eq fully figured out soon.

It’s a very dynamic preamp. Perhaps less intuitive but definitely offers an incredible range. Like you said, a little can be a whole lot with it.
Good luck and enjoy
