I think you're right and this may help. It's also my first 18v system and is a lot hotter than everything else I have. I'll try dropping the bass down.


Yes - that'a been my biggest struggle (the high mids). I don't know if it's the taper of the pot but they seem to go from not enough to really cutting fast and I'm always balancing on this knife edge with the high mids.
It's really an incredible instrument though and I'm sure I'll get the eq fully figured out soon.

If you can adjust the tweeter on your cab, it will help to roll it down or even off. That will allow you a more subtle control of your hi mids at the bass.

If you can adjust the tweeter on your cab, it will help to roll it down or even off. That will allow you a more subtle control of your hi mids at the bass.

Thanks that could be part of it as the Markbass tweeter is one of the unweildy ones. Plus it's years of being used to an active Fender jazz with just bass and treble or a Stingray with TMB.
There is nothing like the sweet piano like timbre of that neck pickup on this bass though!

I’ve got a couple tiny dings on my Dbird I’d like to touch up. Does anyone know the color code for the purple/blue color shift paint?

I thought one of these touch up paint pens would be perfect.

It’s a stunning finish, I really like it.

I’ve got a thing for blue basses.

The six string has moved on, but what a great sounding bass.

Very similar in tone. The main difference is tension. Reduced core are higher tension than Dingwalls.

IMO, the Paysons sound better across the board . I hated the brash brightness of the Dingwall D & G string.
Thought it would mellow out with age but it didn't.
The Paysons are more musical with fantastic attack & the highs are less shrill but still have plenty of harmonics.
You'll never know if you don't try them. I wasted a whole year before trying them.
As for tension , I didn't notice much difference.

No idea if this would work - I simply Googled "green purple color shift touch up paint", and found this:

There were other hits in the search results as well, so you may want to do the search yourself.
EDIT: Sorry, I had green/purple on my mind because that is the color of my MusicMan Mystic Dream John Petrucci guitars, and also I was thinking that green/purple was the only color shifting paint there was. It may have been the first one made, but now I see there is blue/purple (like) this bass, and maybe some other options.
My original advice still applies: try Googling blue purple color shift paint, or else emailing Dingwall tech support.
