The strings appear to be the lower 4 of a d'addario 5 string set. Guess their B isn't long enough!

I've read DR's have long strings, I might check those out. Or Kalium, heard a lot of good about those. And Payson! Which TB'er is the Payson master?
I've been using the Payson Nickel Steels for about four years now and they've never let me down.

This is the NG2 I got this week. I'm really digging it so far and the fanned frets haven't thrown me off at all. Maybe a little bit above the 15th fret but that's okay

I'm not much a purple guy but this one does it for me! Overall it was in pretty good shape, but the nut will need work or replacement eventually. Not sure what happened but it got mangled at some point but it doesn't seem to influence playability or cause any fret buzzing down low. Even with a drop A tuning.

:roflmao:

Squirrels or beavers... probably squirrels - beavers like to play bass.

The current FD-3N's will fit in that older housing, minus the new housing of course?

They used to have them available for purchase off the website, but I do not see pickup replacements there anymore. You would have to call the shop and ask. I imagine they should be able to still make replacements in the old shells if you want to go that route.

DR Pure Blues fit my four string AB-1 and Dbird, E-C. The E just makes the nut. I don’t know about their B strings. I’m assuming that means most DRs, low riders, sunbeams, etc will work for four strings.

Jason at FretNation.com is a great string source. He knows what strings fit Dingwalls, and he can set you up with custom sets. He also carries Dingwall brand strings.

Payson goes by Bluescat here on TB. I really like the reduced core nickels and the new Payson flats. I’m excited to try the flats on my Dbird. I’ve already broken them in on the AB-1.

TI flats are also an option (you’ll need a mixed set), as well as Infeld superalloy super long.

NDD!! My new to me NG2 has arrived and after all the BS I went through getting it shipped. This thing is great, I had a 5 string NG2 but the 4 is for me. Surprisingly it arrived exactly as described and in a Dingwall gig bag. Bonus :) With the stench of cologne coming form the bag, I think it might need some time outside.

Now the bad. The strings are terrible and already talking to the person that can't be mentioned to get some new ones. The neck was way out and I'm surprised it flattened out, but after some time adjusting it plays great. Considering the deal I got on this with the gig bag I think it was worth a bit of drama.

I contacted their support about this a while ago because I really like their NYXL strings and measured the length from the nut to the end of the bridge with their specifications. Unfortunately their 5-string-sets are just a little bit too short. :(
From my experience, the NYXL sets are also not tapered on the bridge end so you can't fit the .130 ball end into the Hipshot bridge piece anyways.

Question. Has anyone found a paint stick or nail polish to "match" the blue? I have a spot I need to touch up.

I had the same question a few weeks back. I was looking for a color code number for the blue/purple color shift paint on my Dbird. I hope to find a touch up paint pen. These are just the tiniest nicks, nothing needing more than a pin head of paint. A $15 touch up paint pen would do nicely.

The Laguna Seca Blue brings up a bunch of different touch up paints but it’s hard to judge colors on screen.

I’m hoping Dingwall tech support has the info.
