I'm not familiar with Dingwall electronic history, but those looks like EMG knobs to me. Was that a stock offering? I didn't ask the seller anything, I just pounced on it.

I'm not familiar with Dingwall electronic history, but those looks like EMG knobs to me. Was that a stock offering? I didn't ask the seller anything, I just pounced on it.
My new to me NG2 is scheduled to be here tomorrow. So fingers crossed the bass is in better shape than the Reverb seller!

Thanks! Once it arrives I have to A-B it against the NG-2 I just got last week. Reverb has been good to me!
Only one can stay unfortunately, so I'll be playing them both a lot.
Every time, very strict at washing before playing.

The candy apple green was not supposed to be an offering on the first run of Combustions, but when the idea popped up and enough of the forum members committed to it, Sheldon made it happen. I am not sure how many were made. I think there were relatively few. I think we had to get 12 committed, if I remember correctly.

I’m glad they did away with it. On the odd “pop” my finger nail would catch some of the writing and it didn’t feel the best mid song. Just an annoyance but it did look cool.

I tried researching, but are those pickups any different than the current pickups? I'm wondering how different they'll be from the NG2 I just got.
expect a completely different sounding bass. Playability will be top notch though.
I like the neck on this old thing better then some of the newer ones I played but tonally speaking expect a more tame, softer sounding instrument then the NG.
Yes, the pickups were different on the original V1 Combustions. Was it alnico? I don't remember, but yes, they were lower output and tamer. They were more traditional sounding. I ended up swapping mine out with the newer standard (in the old shells) with a P-Tone in the neck position.
Ahh thanks for the information! I wonder if the EMG preamp will change it much. Does yours have vol/rotary/treble/bass?
The current FD-3N's will fit in that older housing, minus the new housing of course?
This is the NG2 I got this week. I'm really digging it so far and the fanned frets haven't thrown me off at all. Maybe a little bit above the 15th fret but that's okay 
I'm not much a purple guy but this one does it for me! Overall it was in pretty good shape, but the nut will need work or replacement eventually. Not sure what happened but it got mangled at some point but it doesn't seem to influence playability or cause any fret buzzing down low. Even with a drop A tuning.

That low string is not long enough - the taper should end after the nut! I'd highly recommend getting a new set of properly designed strings and a new nut ASAP. There are plenty of string options, but maybe start with Dingwall strings. A skilled luthier should be able to fix or replace that nut.This is the NG2 I got this week. I did see the previous owner had it strung like this, so I figured I'd try it as is. Seems to be okay, but it definitely needs some attention
The strings appear to be the lower 4 of a d'addario 5 string set. Guess their B isn't long enough!
I've read DR's have long strings, I might check those out. Or Kalium, heard a lot of good about those. And Payson! Which TB'er is the Payson master?
