Don’t attempt fixing that ding if you can test it first in an inconspicuous place first. Maybe take the neck off and put a ding on the neck that is hidden under the neck pocket? Practice with the iron/steam there first. I’ve had my share of “fixes” that have made my guitars far worse than had I left them alone. Never attempt a fix out of desperation.
I tried some flats on my old Voodoo. Sounded great, much like the difference between rounds and flats on any other bass. I had a specific recording project that lended itself to flats and the engineer and producer really wanted me to play the Dingwall. They were TI’s IIRC(before DW specific flats were available) which were a bit heavier gauge. If I was to leave them on permanently I probably would’ve made a slight neck adjustment.
Not a Combustion, but an ABZ, and with La Bella flats. Didn't care for the loss of tonal range. If you want thump, go for it. Personally, I can get enough thump with muting and rolling down my tone control.
I haven't tried on a Combustion specifically, but I have TI flats on my AB2 Fretless and I have Payson True Flats on my AB2 Fretted. Try the Payson - seriously - you'll love them.
Sorry for zombie subject matter or if I missed the answer somewhere in the past several hundred posts, but does anyone who is not busy building wildly popular basses know what the preamp (if any) was in the "Caribbean Burst" ABII from NAMM? Thanks!

A quick detour from Dingwall to share a little hard-won knowledge about vertigo, for anyone affected. It's pretty common, especially among males aged 30-60 or 50-70 (depending which research you read). I daresay that describes a large swath of this here forum. The good news is, if it comes on suddenly, that usually means it's something benign. The bad news is, you shouldn't take medical advice from bass forums.

I had a brief bout with it a few months back. Went to the doctor, nothing obvious was wrong with me and it did clear up in a matter of a week or two.
The doctor did recommend coming back to see a therapist to perform one of the maneuvers that can help such as the Epley. It didn't come to that, but if I go through it again I may ask to try that.

I too had a brief bout of vertiginous episodes. It was when I was between 39 and 43 years old. Nothing obvious was wrong, doc didn't seem too alarmed, passed within a few months never to recur.

I’m loving the Payson flats. Drop right in, very little fussing with set up.
I’ve got them on the AB-1, but they are going to take a turn on the Dbird next. Super easy string swaps with the Payson flats if you are already using tapered strings, like Payson reduces core or Dingwall.

Me too. It hit so bad I could barely drive myself to the emergency satellite to a local hospital. Turned out to be a middle ear infection. Antibiotics cleared it right up.
It was very scary while it was happening. When I turned my head, everything in my visual frame slid like past where it should be, and then snapped back to center. Like some kind of special effect, but in my head.
Wow, that sounds pretty bad! Glad it was cleared up quickly.
I’ve had a couple of bouts of vertigo over the last few years. There are some simple exercises you can do to prevent it. An internet search will give you all The information you need.
Thanks for all the tips and sharing your experiences with vertigo guys, I'm feeling about 70% myself now. Been spending plenty of time with my SP5 and am waiting impatiently for a 250k CTS pot to arrive so I can finally swap out the Tone Fusion.
This is my first time cutting a pickguard but it should turn out nice. I scanned the original pickguard on my computer and traced it using CAD software. I’ll then be using my laser cutter at work to do all the cutting and then use a router and dremel to make the 45 degree bevel on the edges and cut the screw holes. Hopefully I can work on it this weekend and can post pics of the finished product.
The pickguard material wasn’t cheap but I wanted high quality. It should look great on my NG3’s white pearl finish.

I dig abalone guards (have them on two of mine) and I agree, that is going to look NICE on the Ducati White!
